  • Okay gurus.. question

I had a naloxen implant for a bit - staying clean was seemingly too hard to do on my own - i got my shit together, and now working and will be back in the gym hopefully within 2 days (car hit me). Here's my question:

Talking to my doc - he told me he sees a HUGE deficency in testosterone in men in there 30s who have been opiate dependent for say 10-15 years at that point, be it a methadone clinic to smack whatever it may be. He says people are developing osteroperosis (sp) commonly. I've searched around - it's more my own questioning than anything, honestly I do worry that I've done irreversible harm to say my heart, etc due to the life style i lived. Now the test is just my curiousity i mean, i can run test till i die.

Not quite sure what question your asking? are your asking if testosterone is safe?

No ... why would habitual opiate abuse be causing low testoerone - my doc is saying it's becoming more and more clear with ppl in there 30s.

Well I know your not suprised that habitual opiate abuse would leave you with some problems. in terms of its effect on the endocrine system well thats probably the suppressive effect of a depressant. If it depresses your system then it slows everything down. I would still have thought it reversable to some extent but honestly I'm no guru on opiates

yes opiate abusers (herion, oxcontin, meth) need HRT for the rest of there life because once your body stops making test it will never make again. test levels drop when using opiates and ppl have low libido and ED issues. im assuming since normal test levels drop in your 30's it is more of a problem with opiate abuse. how long were you addicted to meth?

"Low testosterone is caused by opioid drug inhibition of LH (Leutininizing Hormone), a pituitary hormone involved in testosterone production, as well direct inhibition of testosterone itself. Similarly, there is also inhibition of the entire endocrine system, and adrenal hormone suppression."

I did OCs for about 5 years, methadone clinic for 2 years - clean for months now and going well - thanks for the info bro cuz I know a lot about rec drugs from the life but I had never ever heard of that. Shit leaves a lasting sting - my cardiovascular health is nowhere near where it was before i started with that (granted that was like 18 lol).

Opiates and some other rec drugs have a direct negative effect on the HTPA axis and i.e. can result in low test. But you should be able to use TRT without harm to your health for decades, in fact it should improve heart health as well as general health.

What lifts said... Opiates and other drugs do directly effect your HPTA and thats why.... I would think most ppl can bounce back should the abuse not be for too long but it would obviously depend on the person....
