I pay 30 a month for a year and I also had to pay a 99 dollar initiation fee. Really expensive, but the place is huge and nice. I might look into another one were I can pay month by month. The schools is big, but I can't stand it there because of the people there.

          Lifts...wow!!

Im be surprised if they didnt have a selection of quality aftershaves in the locker rooms, for post workout along with Marble and Brass fixture everywhere...lol!

At my gym, you have your typical English guys who havnt seen one ray of sunshine their entire lives...They spend work hours on building themselves up, and having these great physiques, but dont care that they look terrible because there almost see white and transparent as a ghost.....as long as there happy :D

              since 84

I have had my membership with the bally's chain since 1984 at around $18.99 per year. I have seen multiple name changes, ownership changes. But the enviroment remains the same. Most people go to create some sort of a social life. Meanwhile, as they talk all of the weights are open. My father has had his membership since 1965...so it runs in the family.....

World Gym, $40 a month, no stupid ass signup fee though. Unlike 24 Hour, when I go there even early in the evening there is tons of equipment open.

Free membership (paid for by my company) to a high end "sports club" - enough free weights and equipment to do what I need. Only problem is that most people there look at me like I'm a freak (and I'm not that big). I miss being at a gym with other BB's. :(

Was training at the YMCA, but there were too many young teens. Nothing wrong with teens lifting, but when they spend their times between basket ball games sitting on the benches talking it get annoying. It was only $25/mo.

Now I'm at World Gym which is $45/mo, but it's serious lifters only.

I can't believe how many people train at home! I think it was Arnold in his Encyclopedia who talked about the gym atmosphere motivating and pushing you. I find thats true. I have difficulty motivating at home.

Agreed, I tried home, but I need not only the atmosphere but the ability to throw plates around and make noise without worrying about the neighbors or my floor. Plus they have more weights, a 4 way neck machine, and other crap that comes in handy. At minimum I'd want a bench and rack.
