It could be a farmer though, they would do that on purpose to teach the dog not to chase Roosters, I don't think the dog was hurt just pride hurt.

A mate of mine would intentionally put his young dogs in with Rams to give them a taste of the Rams power so they will learn not to chase them when older.

The little dog learned a valuable lesson there that may save its life
