  • Scientists hope to prove estrogen is the real cause of roid rage.

Now, Thomas Hildebrandt's team at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York are conducting the first longitudinal study of anabolic steroid users. By monitoring participants before, during and after cycles of steroid use, the group hopes to work out how the drugs exert their effects and how long these might last.

Once injected or swallowed, anabolic steroids are broken down into either androgen or oestrogen. The group's preliminary results suggest that the amount and rate of breakdown varies between individuals and that the ratio of the two hormones may predict which users develop aggressive behaviours. Those with more oestrogen than androgen appear more likely to exhibit aggression.

Hildebrandt reckons steroid users could have a blood test to find out how likely they are to experience roid rage. Altered levels of androgen and oestrogen would be evident within the first couple of weeks of a three-to-six-month cycle of steroid use. Controversially, Hildebrandt also suggests that a drug that blocks the conversion of steroid to oestrogen could be taken to help suppress the aggressive side effects. These kinds of drugs - called aromatase inhibitors - are already prescribed to people who need to keep their oestrogen levels low, such as those with breast cancer.

to say something is "all mental" shows how little you understand. the ability to have a certain mental state comes hormones, genetics, chemistry make up etc.. your state of mind is not just some sort of magical process that has no connection to hormones etc..

roid rage comes from a combo of estrogen, androgens, and how your body chemistry reacts to those hormones.

again, to say "its a mental thing" shows you dont understand the very basics of what a thought process even is. its what people like you do with religion as well. you do things "just because" without trying to understand why and how something works.

well then you must agree that there is a certain trigger in some people that causes "roid rage". there is much more to it then to say its "just a mental thing". there has to be a chemical reaction going on.

This makes a lot of sense. Men who have low testosterone and therefore higher estrogen due to the test not being balanced in proper proportions experience very high levels of rage. Once testoserone levels raise from HRT/TRT, most men will tell you they get quite mellow.

I read an insert I believe came with cranberry extract once ....it explained how the liver affects your whole body even your mental state, and that toxins built up in the liver can cause aggression amongst other things. This makes the most sense to me....excessive alcohol and narcotic consumption can also cause aggression as i'm sure everyone knows. So when you think about it, steroids are toxic on the liver....this combined with high test levels are a recipe for aggressive behaviour. I find when combining potent steroids like tren and Dbol I become extremely aggressive.

i think certain people in general are the cause for roid rage. Yes, some anabolics can make me irritable at times but overall, i have a good sense of well being on gear and never have lossed my cool. Of course we have all probably seen someone loose their cool that takes shit but in the end, those people usually have personal problems or cant deal with stress and pressure as it is. To me, a person that breaks easy under pressure just breaks even easier under the influence of gear. People that have known me all my life tell me they cant tell the differnce when im on or off a cycle other than the fact that im more energetic, alert, and motivated.. Hell, i see people all the time that have never worked out, been in a gym, and dont even take shit that have a worse attitude than people that do loose it on gear or workout. People that see a big guy loose their cool will always suspect steroid related aggression, but what about a skinny little fuk that looses his cool? hes just an asshole right? Its steriotyping really. roid rage to me is made up by the media steriotyping.
