  • In Peyton's case, using HGH to heal is no crime

If Peyton Manning needs HGH to play football again, he should use HGH. And the NFL should let him. And we should understand.

    Any questions?

Stupid question. Of course there will be questions, because we're not equipped to see shades of gray. We see black or we see white. We see two sides to an issue -- yes or no -- and we choose one. And because we've already chosen "no" for HGH, that means "no" for HGH at all times. For all people. Forever.

For real -- we're ridiculous that way.

This isn't even that complicated an issue. It doesn't require mental gymnastics to bend the facts to and fro until they fit into a box that would let us check "yes" for Peyton Manning and HGH. And now that I think about it, let me say -- duh -- I'm not a doctor and I don't know if Manning needs HGH to recover from the series of neck procedures that has put his career in question. I don't know if HGH would even help. But I know this is a talking point, the concept of Manning and HGH and what would we as a society think about it.

Have the union and the NFL even came up with a HGH testing proposal?
Last I heard there talks on both ends had ceased.
What is wrong with his neck?
