  • Thoughts on putting my mom on HGH

She turns 60 this year and all the sudden everything is bothering her, knees, elbows, hip etc.. She has put on about 40lbs over the last 5-6 years even though she eats the same and has the same basic activity level she did 10 years ago. I can hear it in her voice when I talk to her that she just doesn't feel that great about herself.

What are your guys thoughts on something like starting her out on 1iu per day and then possibly bumping her up to 2iu after a couple months of her using 1iu?

I feel like it will do nothing but help her. Joints, sense of well being, help her lose weight etc..

    Thoughts?

Her joints and everything are hurting because of the extra weight. Not only are they losing their density, elasticity, etc - you're asking them to do more work. I would say she needs to lose the weight and get more active first. It's harder, I know. My mom is 58 and I see it. But still feel that's the best place to start.

FB she owns a small cleaning company and and is physically active 8-9 hours per day. She has a massive lawn which she still uses a push mower and cuts it once per week, (It takes her 6 hours to do the whole thing) and she does because she likes to do it. She has a riding mower and it has not been out of the garage in years. She could not be more physically active as a 60 year old women.

Its easy to say "get diet in check" but at some point you get to an age where your body and age is working against you and a little outside help could go along way.

I guess what I am asking is, what would the negatives be of low dose GH for a 60 year old women?

I agree. Before HGH make sure she understand how she should be eating and exercising.

Both my mom and dad turn 60 this year and are in awesome shape for their age. My mom has always taken/taught classes at her gym since I can remember. My dad lifts and runs 4-5 times a week. They both eat very healthy. You would never know they are almost 60. They both look and feel great.

Knowing that... then maybe it can't hurt for her to explore HGH. Would she be open to that idea?

Don't know anything about HGH, but it may make sense to review what she is eating. It is entirely possible that she isn't eating as well as she should. Just losing 10 or 20lbs will make a world of difference to the joints.

I know "get your diet in check" is not the only answer - that's why I said I see it in my own mother, it's a lot harder the older you get. I also see my own mother make poor food decisions, as I'm sure yours does too.

What I really was getting at, was that the healthier she starts at, the more positive effects she is going to see. 40 extra pounds on a frame, takes its toll, period.

I know I've heard gh can increase your chances for glucose irregularity - diabetes, can cause more bloating for older women, etc. I guess you don't know until you try.

The biggest, most obvious downfall would be getting it, and getting it good, and it's price.

That's what I was getting at. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it - she will feel different. I know what my body felt like with an extra 40 lbs on it - not easy.

Mine would analyze it to death, find every negative she could, and say hell no.

she eats the basic 3 meals per day. not big meals by any means. she will have a few eggs and toast with a glass of milk for breakfast, a sandwhich for lunch, and an average american women type dinner like chicken cacciatore, pasta and meat sauce, casserole, etc..

absolutely agree with the extra 40lbs being the big issue.

BUT she eats the same and is as physically active as she was 10 years ago and has gained the 40lbs on that same 3 meals a day.

could she adjust the cals and eat less or eat multiple meals a day, sure. but she isnt going to. she has been doing the same thing for 60 years and just will not start eating 5 meals a day after 60 years.
