I know it is an individual thing but what is the most common dose prescribed by a Dr. of accutane? Also do you start out somewhat low and ramp up till a certain dose is working for you?

I took accutane in high school 18yrs ago, don't remember the dosage, but it worked. for some reason it flared up again on my chest and back really bad, cystic acne, the kind you can't pop, just big and red, hurt like hell. went back to the doc and he put me on 3 tabs a day, 40mg a tab. after 6 weeks i started have severe headaches, nothing like i've ever had before. it got so bad, i pulled over driving home from work and had to have my wife come get me, she took me to the er, had catscan and everything was fine. the headaches continued, and after two more visits to the doc, he took me off accutane.
I'm not saying this will happen to you, but the pain from the headaches was like nothing i've ever felt before. good luck.

I had pretty bad acne on my face and after I started cycling, on my chest shoulders and back also. I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me accutane at 80mg a day 40 in the am and pm with food. You take it for 5-6 months but it works awesome. The only sides most get is dry lips, and eyes....hope this helps.

I think the dose is close to 2mg per 5 pounds of body weight. I started off with the Dr. at 80mg ED and I was around 190 to 200 lbs. After my blood work came back good for two months they jumped me to 120mg ED until I finished my treatment of 5 months worth total.

If taking during a cycle to prevent acne I would suggest 40mg EOD if not a little lower. I recently took 40mg EOD with a cycle and had great results. ALSO, due to the stress accutane places on your body, I would strongly advise not to take orals and accutane together.
Main thing is that Accutane is some serious medication and I had to deal with a lot while I was on it. That being during my treatment and during a cycle.

I am on Accutane right now. I started at 40mg ed and moved up to 80mg ed. My skin has become worse. I don't know what to do. I get big marble like cycts under the skin, and they erupt w/ the nastyest shit u could believe, and leave big holes in my skin. I wish U luck. I would not take Accutane while on a cycle. I think I was wrong to do so, but did not want to come off.

main cause of acne is the elefvated levels of DHT that is converted from the high testosterone. It may be beneficial to use proscar to keep these DHT levels in check. I use a generic version of proscar and it is really cheap. If you want to go a step further there is Dutasteride which blocks both types of 5ar enzyme which will in turn block almost all DHT. Though I have yet to try it I believe that it will prevent acne all together if proscar is not helping enough. As a bonus your saving your prostate and hairline too. Can't go wrong!

I know alot people say your skin gets worse at first, then improves greatly after the first month or so. How long have you been on it?Originally posted by IAMHUGE

Its a normal charactieristic of accutane for some to have a flare of acne once the treatment was started. After the first month or two the flare should go away and you skin should begin to clear.
My acne was cyst like as well. Would be a huge lump then one day just by my shirt and bed sheets rubbing my back they would start to bleed and leave huge hole in my skin. I have not heard anything about accutane taking away from your gains, but I'd prefer to gain 5 pounds less if it means I'll still have clear skin.
As far as the depression goes, yes it can be bad. That is what I had a hard time dealing with myself, and one of the many reasons accutane is viewed as a very serious drug which should be monitored by a doctor.
In my personal use of accutane I took 40mg EOD during my last cycle because I already knew how my body acted on 6 times the dose from when I was on my treatment. At 40mg EOD and a less than perfect diet along with 15-20mg ED nolvadex I still managed to gain just over 20 pounds from a cycle of 75mg Fina ED and 100mg prop ED for 8 weeks. I would not personally advise that it will hamper gains from a cycle, but will stress that it not be taken with orals.
One thing about accutane is that is slows the speed in which your skin heals, that is a given with the drug, but as far as having any interaction with the recovery of muscles in a way to decrease gains from a cycle I haven't been told about yet.

That is shitty bro.. I have 2 friends that had the same reaction. . one has big scars on his back now and the other on his chest . . .I think that high dosages cause this from what they told me. .I used to take 10mg a day when on cycle in portugal because I could get it cheap at the farma. . .I never got a zit once even though I was hot and sweaty A LOT when I was there.Originally posted by IAMHUGE

I had heard somewhere that a lot of pros take this low dose approach during cycles. . .
keep safe

Random back pain sensation?
I'm randomly getting back pains like small needles going into my skin on my back.
I turned 18 on nov 6.
Caucasian male
Not TONS of physical activity but I do try to stay in shape
I'm 6'5u0026quot; tall, heavy built 275 lbs
Not a lot of acne
Allergic to shrimp, but have not had any for 2 years
The pain is completely random and affects random areas of my back, to the entire surface, to a small area.
Painful enough to cause a lot of discomfort, almost feels like an extremely bad itch (the kinds where you feel like you need to scratch and leave marks to make it feel better)
It doesn't go away if you don't do anything to it
From what I know, it doesn't wake me up at night.
I don't have regular back pain like muscle aches or anything
I do have a cold right now but I'm not sure if that could be it - cold makes me cough a lot, runny nose, stuffy nose, etc, regular cold, have had it for about 4 days before the sensation happened
The feeling started one day ago while I was making food for dinner, I put on some rubber latex gloves so I didn't get my hands dirty, from what I know, if I was allergic to latex, the irritation should have been gone by now
I've showered at least 6 times to try to make it stop
I have decent health insurance whatever, but I wanted to see if I could use a home remedy first or not, I haven't tried anything out of the ordinary.
If more info is needed, ask for whatever and I'll try to supply the information.
-SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE! It really does hurt and would LOVE to cure the pain.

Are you on any medications? Is there swelling or discoloration at the sites of discomfort? Have you made any changes in soaps, bath and or laundry?
Rule out latex, it's a systemic reaction that can result in anaphylactic shock. I have it.
My advice is to go see your gp doctor, and get a referral if necessary for a dermatologist. Failing to do that will necessitate the unveiling of your own Sherlock Holmes abilities. Good luck.
