  • Test levels and opiates

An old friend has been sober for 2 years after an 11 yr opiate ( pill) addiction.

He was complaining of severe fatigue, no libido, depression, etc.

Dr tested his thyroid said it was low put him on meds said he will get back to normal.

I suggested a test level check. After a battle with his Dr, guess what..... 54!

You read that right 54. 6x lower than males 85-100 yrs old.

Turns out opiates have a dire effect on your endocrine system. Says the Dr that didn't want to run the test.

Started him on 100mg cyp per week.

He was shut down pretty bad. 100mg per wk is a great TRT dose.

this is a huge thing.. i know of 7 people who went through this after they got sober and they were super depressed, no sex drive, nothing.. apparently its common. Even for people who take those meds regulary as prescribe, over a period of years it kills libido, opiates kill your brains ability to fire endorphins naturally along with other things .. a side effect of those meds that you rarely hear about that is obvious a main issue for men taking it

I got sober 3 years ago, but I've been on test the whole time. I'd hate to think what would happen if I stopped.

Alin you are lucky, the depression from no test and plus no opiates is completely horrible. One of my buddy tried committing suicide. Luckily he failed and once he got himself on a maintenance dose of test and it start to kick in and he started training again his brain started to bounce back. He had no sex drive at all. Also, he claimed at times even when he wanted to TRY.... and he couldnt even attempt it..that he couldnt get hard to even stroke
