  • Silva and Diaz fail Drug tests

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/an...2999--mma.html

Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz have failed drug tests related to UFC 183, according UFC officials and a report on Tuesday.

Diaz failed a post-fight exam for marijuana, as initially reported by Yahoo! Sports columnist Kevin Iole, and later confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by the NAC.

“On February 3, 2015, the UFC organization was notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Anderson Silva tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites on his Jan. 9 out of competition drug test,” read a UFC statement. “UFC’s understanding is that further testing will be conducted by the commission to confirm these preliminary results.

“Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC, in Brazil as well as around the world. UFC is disappointed to learn of these initial results.”

The organization added that they have a strict policy against the use of any illegal and performance-enhancing drugs.

Officials have yet to comment on Diaz's post-fight test. According to Iole, the amount Diaz tested positive for was over the allowable limit. The test result report confirms that, only noting that he tested positive for elevated levels of marijuana metabolites, but not revealing the measured level.

Not surprising if you consider that Lorenzo Fertita used to be part of NSAC I'm sure a man with that former connection could "arrange" for a delay in results.

          Of course they disagree...

"To think for one second that we would consider that -- maybe it's mother nature for some negative people to think that way -- it's ludicrous.*I have 24 years in the FBI. To think someone could get me to close my eyes to a positive test, to risk someone getting hurt, that conspiracy theory is ... we would never do that."

Tow things strike me; 1) if the results came out prior then the fight would be cancelled and mucho dinero along with it, 2)silva refused danas request to sport reebok, and Anderson was likely to retire soon without giving Jones a go and he's also pissed dana off before

Whatever, Anderson stands up there with fedor as greatest

Lots of money to be lost in an already declining revenue.

Silva has 14 fights left on his new contract. No retiring anytime soon.

I'd imagine so, but I believe the legal/financial ramifications of the UFC cash cow not honoring his contract would severe.

GSP just called PED's a weapon as well.
