  • Cholesterol values and your thoughts....????

So just got a full blood work up done. Liver Enzymes are surprisingly perfect..... Cholesterol....Not so much.

So I've been reading and I'm looking to find the latest and greatest literature, info, personal experiences etc...

Some say wait until your levels are in check before you start your cycle (mature answer and clearly makes sense)

Others say to go ahead with cycle while taking OTC Meds (more specifically Policosanol @ 20mg-40daily) or take your lipitor as prescribed by your doctor and just keep checking your levels frequently.

So, what's your opinions on the above scenarios?

I've been reading up on this Policosanol and some people live by it and say it is amazing while on the other hand I read a thread posted in 2006 by Bouncer disputing this OTC as basically useless....

This is the cycle I had in mind when I felt the time was right.

    Weeks 1-12 600-750mg PW Test E/Test C Blend
    Weeks 1-12 600-750mg PW EQ
    Weeks 8-12 50mg Winny ED (25mg AM/25MG PM)
    PCT to follow after

BUT..... Here were my most recent levels: Prepare yourselves.....

    Triglycerides: 187 mg/dL
    Total Cholesterol: 286 mg/dL
    LDL: 213 mg/dL
    HDL: 35 mg/dL

As you can see, Total CHOL and LDL are a bit off (I say that with sarcasm, yes, I know it's not a laughing matter either.)

On a side note, I've been eating pretty clean and I'm back in the gym with weights and cardio (Only 6 weeks now). For the typical person I would say just give it more time, but High BP and High Cholesterol run in the family.

So guys, what are your thoughts?

More healthy fats. It's not dietary cholesterol that has an effect it's fat. More avocados (you being a Mexican that shouldn't be hard :D)

    More fish oil.

Agreed. More healthy fats and watch alcohol consumption, that will effect cholesterol and triglycerides. If it runs in the family, like mine does, you may just be fucked and have to take some cholesterol meds.

I'm currently on Simvastatin and I'm looking to switch to a different. The statin-class prescriptions are known to cause liver problems in a lot of people. My liver enzymes were high at my last appointment so I cut down on the alcohol to just social stuff and even then I try to limit it to a few drinks...like under 20 lol.

Seriously though, stay on top of that shit and don't always rely on the internet. Don't fuck around with cholesterol and blood pressure shit.

I don't drink, I used to drink heavily.... My ALT and AST are now around 30 and 27. Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol has always run in the family.

5'7" 207 lbs. 19% BF by 6 point caliper test. After PCT I'll be off. I had my test levels checked too and they were sitting pretty. And Chad, you've seen my history on here..... Look up my pre-contest cycle back from 2005..... I never got to finish that one because instead of my dumbass finishing it and being my best on stage I tried to make the high end of the lower weight class.... Will never make that mistake again if I compete.

So ultimately, what are y'all suggestions?

Wait until they're all normal before starting the cycle?

                  OR

Supplement with OTCs or prescribed meds and run with it. Ultimately, yes, I know, it is my decision and my body. But honestly, what would be your suggestions?

I'm leaning towards taking the OTC (Policosanol 30mg-40mg per day) for a month, getting my lipid profiles checked again and going from there.

I've seen your pics in the past and your contes diet, training, etc...so not like you don't know wtf you're doing....id be willing to be its your eating habits, drinking, stress, etc...many other issues can also raise your levels. You know I've had mine done for the past ten plus years and I'm on point when it comes to blood work. I've had my issues as well with Hdl, ldl, and ast, alt as well.

I always thought I was eating clean, doing enough cardio, ex..I was lost to why my numbers were always off. When I finally did change my eating habits, everything changed in my favor.

i like the cycle, minus the eq...a tad bit much IMO but I'm sure you know works best for you. I'd be first worried to drop the BF to low teens before I'd start.

Also, if it runs in the fam like it does with mine, well that doesn't help either. You're just gonna have to work at it a bit more than the other person. I feel like you're living what I went through with those almost exact numbers when I lived in Miami.

Smart money will tell you to have wait to start a cycle until all your levels are in check. You don't want to risk anything and then stop midway through. Having a strong cardiovascular system will help you in the long run

We had a member many years, NewbieChris, I believe that had questionable bloodwork followed by hypertension when he started his very first cycle. His BP went higher and had constant nosebleeds. He would constantly post about his cycle exacerbating the nosebleeds and eventually quit. Don't know what happened to him.

If it's issue of stress, find out how to control it.

Listen: any oral aas will suppress hdl also "some" injectable will, including windy

Chances are if you used inj enanth with primo there would be no suppression.

                            Yes take fish oil too.

It's the ration of hdl to ldl that's most important

Mr I bring up good point about the oral.

Take the Winny out of cycle.
