Best way to protect yourself is to have a good firewall. Some DSL's use very good firewalls right in line with them. Or you can go and pick up Black Ice Defender. This is a very good firewall and shows you when someone is trying to break in. If the break in percentage is too high then just sign off. But I've never in 3 years had anything the Black Ice Defender couldnt block. You can also download this online for a few bucks. PEACE! KIR

I would image they could use a hacker. Think about it, if someone breaks into a gov't system they either get jailed and can never touch a computer again, or.........they get offered a job to prevent other hackers and to enhance their security. I doubt they'd look through anyone's computer unless they had a REALLY good reason though.

firewalls don't hide your IP address though.

But it will stop someone from getting in. If you have a good one. Black Ice was made for pro hackers. It wont obviosuly stop everyone but it stops the majority bro. And it shows how serious the attrack is that is happening. If you feel nervous, get the hell offline. Most servers give you a new ip number everytime you sign online, so in that aspect you are safe after signing off. PEACE! KIR

anyone can be found, its just a question of whos looking

in all honesty, I would concern yourself with these matters, unless you have a particular enemy or something, other than that you are safe

I don't think nothing can protect you computer a 100%. If someone wants in they will get in.
