:drunk: Need some opinions, can't really figure this shit out, on a moderate cycle, 1200 wk cyp, 600 eq, 45 mg day d bol, now after 4 weeks I am real close to 500 bench, in fact just missed it last week , then dropped back down and finished 480, now this week ONLY after 5 days since doing bench, tried another max, and DID not even get 475? Felt weaker, why you all think, Thought there was no such thing as over training on gear, or maybe because I did not wait my 7 day norm between doing chest? Any BIG benchers please give me your input, maybe I should change a drug, maybe my receptor sites are full right now after 4 weeks, got to be something, no way can you do 480 easy one week and not even close the next?????????

day to day effects mind muscle ratio...go in with a clean head and a set mind to nail it and you will
Also, try not to do tioo mnay working stes leading up to that poundage, jump in decent incraments, but do 2-3 reps max, just sop the muscles can get a feel for the weight as it increases

Well, you've gotta take several things into consideration:
1) What was the overall volume of the workout that you did 5 days ago? Juiced or not juiced, if you bombed your upper body in a workout, your prolly not gonna be at peak strength within 5 days. Thats why you never hear about powerlifters (even those who use) doing a heavy workout that soon before a meet.
2) What workouts had you done in the days prior to benching the 480? What workouts did you perform in the days leading up to the miss with 475? Hell, simple things like a more intense lat or arm workout can take their toll. Gotta look at the whole picture.
3) How many successive weeks did you max out before you noticed this decrease? It has often been said that using more than 90% of your max (on a particular exercise) for more than 3-4 weeks will cause the CNS to be overtrained and one's form and strength will actually begin to decrease. This explains why most powerlifters "peak" for a meet. They slowly add weight and decrease the reps as the meet nears. They only surpass the 90% mark in the last few weeks of the training cycle. That way, they get all the strength gains of using near maximal weights, without frying their CNS and losing strength. They essentially try to "peak" their strength for the meet day. My point is, how often have you been maxing out in training. Sauce or no sauce, maxing out and hitting PR's can't go on forever.........or thats all powerlifters would do in training.
Hope this helps.......just my $.02

Yup Vita gave some real good thoughts. Coop me and you have talked before bro, and I think MOST of your missing at 500 is MENTAL bro. You seem down a bit every now and then. Doom hit it on the head saying make sure you go in mentally prepared. I sometimes will take 1 cap of Ripped fuel just to get a bit hyped up for a max. You cant possibly be the exact same or higher everyday bro. Get yourself hyped up and get yourself a GOOD spotter that can help get you mentally prepared for your lift. I guarantee bro this is a mental thing for you and you just need your head in this all the way. I would get you to hit 500 the first time we worked out together. And you know my ass would get you to hit it. LOL While on gear you normally have big spurts every third week. I have a feeling in week 6 your gonna hit this because your body will be ready and your mind will be too. Get your head in the game bro and hit it. Dont make me pass you with a pause no shirt. LOL I'm getting closer and closer bro. Should be at 500 with no shirt and a 3 sec pause within a month. I'll keep you posted. PEACE! KIR

Re: Bench Strength????????
We are still human beings man, made of flesh, bones and blood. Of course there is still overtraining.Originally posted by Daddycoop
Thought there was no such thing as over training on gear, or maybe because I did not wait my 7 day norm between doing chest?
I can say though that for me I can train every 5th or 6th day on gear, but I have no idea how much sleep you are getting, what the diet is like, the list goes on and on. Everyone is an individual and so are training etc needs.

Good luck hitting those big weights Coop and KIR. I gave up maxing out due to injuries. I figure since I am not competing I'll stick to using enough weight to keep making gains without my body falling apart.....damn bulging disc and arthritic knee, LOL. Anyway, keep us posted on your progress, it could be like a mini competition we can all follow on the board. BSH

your number one problem is that you stated that you didn't think you could overtrain on gear. steroids enhance they do not perfect us. in fact as the body gets stronger and bigger it needs more time to recover because your endocrine system does not advance in proportion to your body to keep up with the demands you place on it. For a good read on it pick up The Stress of Life by Hans Seyle found at www.exercisecertification.com
if you really want to increase bench strength you should only be testing your max once a month.

Hey Stoney. Bro everyone is different with this. I DO agree on the max thing. I normally think 6 weeks. But My old workout partner Gorman, held the steriod free bench press record years back at 181 weight class (he weighed in at 178) and would bench 436/438. He would max out at least once per week and he did this for years. Now I dont recommend this for anyone. But the bro found out through other coaches what worked best for him and went with it. Everyone is different. I agree with ya bro, but who knows what anyone on this board is capable of until you see them with the right coach. I personally know COOP, and I think for this bro it is mental. This guy is one strong fucker and should be throwing up this weight. Guarantee working out with me for 2-3 chest days he would get it. Just mental here.
And Fuck yes you can over-train on gear. I see it happen all the time with people in the gym. So I agree with ya there too Stoney. PEACE! KIR
