    WASHINGTON (Reuters)

    TRUMP ‘ERODED’ PRESIDENCY

Although Trump’s administration had been strongly critical of China’s mass detention of mostly Muslim Uighur minority and other Muslim groups, Trump gave Xi a green light in June 2019 in Osaka, Japan, Bolton said.

“According to our interpreter, Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do,” Bolton wrote, adding another top White House official said Trump made similar comments during his November 2017 trip to China.

Bolton cited an innumerable number of conversations in which Trump demonstrated “fundamentally unacceptable behavior that eroded the very legitimacy of the presidency.”

A former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and Fox News television commentator, Bolton’s hawkish approach had worn on a president weary of foreign military entanglements, officials say.

Trump would sometimes chide Bolton in meetings, introducing him to visiting foreign leaders by saying, “You all know the great John Bolton. He’ll bomb you. He’ll take out your whole country.”

In excerpts published in the Washington Post, Bolton writes that Trump said invading Venezuela would be “cool” and that it was “really part of the United States.”

The U.S. government has publicly said it does not favor using force to topple Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

The book also exposed the sometimes dim view that Trump’s advisers have of him. During a 2018 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Bolton says he got a note from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mocking Trump.

“He is so full of shit,” Pompeo’s note said, according to a Bolton excerpt in the Washington Post.

Although Trump is publicly critical of journalists, Bolton’s book quotes the U.S. president making some of his most alarming remarks to date. In a summer 2019 meeting in New Jersey, Trump allegedly said journalists should be jailed so they have to divulge their sources: “These people should be executed. They are scumbags,” according to another excerpt in the Post.

tell ya who i'd like to see as Vice Pres and eventually Pres... Colin Powell. always liked him. carries himself as a leader should. he's a bit tainted by Bush and the Iraq invasion but I don't believe he would have done the same thing had he been in charge.

It's a real shame what the hell we're left with isn't it?

Trump who will absolutely go down in history as the worst President of all time.

On the other side we have a half dead creeper with 1 foot in the grave and who can hardly form a complete sentence.

I'd like to see Cuban run. I know you probably just see him as a walstreet guy but if you listen to his ideas and the way he thinks, I think he'd do some real good. He'd wipe the floor with trump in the debates. Biden is going to come across very weak just watch.

He is really a complete, incompetent president. There is no way he can handle that job in any type of reasonable, effective way.
If it was not for how the government is set up, where no president can make unilateral decisions, 99.9% of the time he would need congressional approval to implement anything. Otherwise we would be living in a dictatorship right now because that is what he wants.
I can not see him getting re elected but I didnt think he had a chance in the first place. There are enough ignorant, uneducated, brainwashed, racist, mostly, southerners that I cant rule anything out. These people will vote for someone who stands against just about everything they need to live a half way decent life. They still will vote for the guy because these politicians are experts at diverting the attention to the real inportant issues by using things like religion, abortion, guns, racism to get the vote of these people we would be better off with if they stuck them all on ships and sent them to their own little private Island. Away from anyone sane.

One thing I want to bring up and just see what anyone thinks.
How can anyone call this country's political system a true democracy, it is so far from that.
You start with the fact that we only have two realistic choices in any election. It's been set up as a two party system. Having a choice of just two people is not a democracy. The people who make up the candidates for these two parties, for the most part, are from the same exact background as everyone before them. In a lot of cases the son of an ex president, the wife of an ex president. Again how can you call that democratic? You cant. In addition the people do not actually vote for the two, pretty much fixed candidates, the states electors do. That is why in 2 of the last four election It believe the candidate that won the popular vote actually lost. Including the last election where Clinton recieved more total votes than Trump but still lost.
We are living in more if an oligarchy (govt ruled by a certain class of people not a single individual) that is disguised as a democracy. The only people that will realize this would be those educated on the subject and that is far too little to make a difference.
In Germany, where I believe they have the best system and , before covid anyway, had a great economic situation, they routinely will have 8, 10 candidates all with different ideas that people can choose from. That is so much more democratic thsn the system we live in. Germany is not thought of as a democratic country though. It's social programs get it labeled more a social democracy. Which is exactly what is needed here.

Pure socialism can not work, pure capitalism can not work either over the long term and you are starting to see that with the constant unrest and the ridiculous gap between the super rich and the next down.
Only a system that is a combination of the two will last. A capitalist system with social programs and higher taxes than we have now. They also need to get rid of these , again mostly southern, politician's who are stuck in the 40s. 50s, 60s. Who constantly call for tax cuts which is a way to say give less to blacks and other minorities without actually saying it. Who still support blatantly racist legislation thats kept blacks in a defacto segregated system. I'm no civil rights activist but I simply believe in equality and that everyone should have the same opportunities. Right now, from birth a certain part of the population has little to no chance at all. Due to decades of legislation that needs to be overwritten and very soon.

We are not going to have a real democracy here until we get ranked choice voting.
