  • Hacker/Bot Activity - A Look Behind The Scenes of SM

Another reminder of how bad the hacker/bot activity is all over the internet. This a just a tiny example of the malicious activity hitting SM. Over 7000 bots hitting us in a span of 5 minutes. If a small site like superior gets hit this bad imagine what it takes to fight malicious activity on major sites.. Insane.

You can no longer have a website online without major security and complicated firewalls in place that are constantly updated.

If you can take over a site you can hold it ransom. They are automated and requires little effort from that actual person behind the bots. These bots literally just scan the internet for any weakness from the tiniest blog of 1 person to mega sites like google.

Once they find a weakness it sends a message back home so to speak and a real person takes over where they begin the hack/ransom.

Add to that people private information in PM's etc... They can be hit by identity theft on the dark web once that info is extracted etc..

This give a little more insight into how bad the bot problem is on the internet. This is SM traffic over the past 24 hours. The blue area to the far right is human traffic. The rest is all bots both good (google bots) and bad (Spam/Hack bots)

So the verified bots in the green bar are all good, or are some of them malicious as well?

That's still 20K malicious hits. Worth noting that there are 26400 seconds per day. So basically we are getting one malicious hit almost every second. Crazy.

It's also something to think about with social media like facebook and twitter. people don't realize how much of that shit is bots put in place to cause turmoil within the country. You may be "liking" or arguing with a bot. That's not crazy conspiracy anymore, that's reality.

yup! we got end to end encryption baby. high tech for shit site!

end to end is the type of encryption governments don't like. banned in china, Russia etc..

believe it or not, this site is much safer than something like Gmail. Gmail is encrypted but it's not end to end. huge difference. there is zero opportunity at any point along the message route where a middle man can snoop. all they would see is encrypted numbers and letters that mean nothing.
