I have to admit I do love those things but they are so dam expensive. I can’t stand things that don’t age the same though so I bought the rest of the set. The 5 pound to 90 pound pro set cost almost $700 bucks.

Well lets put it this way, If your building a home gym and I have had mine for about 10 years now. I have gone through some different equipment to either upgrade or replace something because of space or just because I liked a different piece better. The biggest problem with a home gym is space and it doesn't seem to matter how much you have its not enough. I have tons of regular steel dumbbells and they take up more space than anything. Your absolutely right that dumbbells are cheaper but there are other issues with them & mind you I have no intention of getting rid of the ones I have but I couldn't see buying any more of them so I decided to break the chain. The power blocks are 5 to 90 pounds of dumbbells that can jump weight in either 2 1/2 pound increments or 5 pound and only take up less then 2 1/2 cubic feet of space. They also don’t roll away from you during your exercise routine. I found I liked them a lot better than I thought I would. But dumbbells certainly have there place and I will not part with them. the bottom line is space.

Absolutely you can use these for drop sets, If you look at the photograph and see the rack. Those 4 silver loads that are between the 2 weight stacks. Those are each 2.5 pound loads. 2 fit in each handle of the Dumbbell. Each plate is in 10 pound increments. so you load and unload the handle in either 2.5 or 5 pound increments depending on you desire. Its very quick and easy. The other thing is the wt stand is a perfect height preacher curls or any exercise were you need you dumbbells at a starting height that's at a standing position. I must say I have grown to love them and depending on your lifestyle for me anyway they are worth the extra money.
