Plus everyone is acting like the superbowl is a huge even that kids watch. The superbowl isn't geared towards kids, it is an adult event, adults have parties, they drink, etc...

I'm still not justifying it, but some of you people are acting like big bird god sodomized during a sesame street marathon on PBS.
I concur w/ Keiser and Bounce on this....The Super Bowl is NOT geared toward kids..I can remember when I was growing up, not even being allowed to go to the Super Bowl parties w/ my parents. So, this whole thing about a child seeing a piece of a woman's anatomy is beyond me....And someone mentioned that it gives the impression that tearing a bra off a woman is, ok....I didn't get that idea whatsoever. It went with the lyrics, that's it. Maybe my views will changes once I have children...But, as for right now, I don't see why the Feds are investigating...

IT'S A PUBLICITY STUNT, AND IMO, IT WAS INTENDED TO MIRROR THE WHOLE MADONNA/BRITNEY KISS. No one said " I can't believe I let my kid watch those MTV awards" after that kiss.. IMO, it was equally offensive, if not more! It's all for shock factor. Britney got him, he gets her...I mean, he and Janet had a thing for awhile so BFD.

I dont agree at all....the problem was that it was on public tv with kids watching....I actually think that the standards of this country are TOO relaxed...:agree:

what kind of parent lets their 6 year old watch the MTV music awards ? and what kind of 6 year old would give a shit to watch them ? Of course you didnt get the idea that tearing off the bra was ok ... but you dont have the mind of a child .... right ? as parents we are responsible to make decisions on what our children watch and what they do not , and until this year the superbowl halftime show was about entertainment ... this thread is becoming very obviously a debate between parents and non-parents ,, before I had kids I would have been all about janet jackson getting totally naked on national TV ... but not now ... see my post above about my 6 year old's day at school today and it will give some perspective on where I am coming from ....

I know that in todays world they will be exposed to things that are tough to explain ,, but it is my reponsibility to prepare them for those things , and last night I was not given the oppurtunity to determine the timing ..
This is exactly right. There is nothing wrong with an exposed breast, but it is MY resposibility to discuss this with my children.
On my terms. Every child is different and only I know the emotional state of my child and whether he or she is ready for this discussion.

                  Fuck MTV.

I was not offended by it all. However, I was a bit shocked, but I enjoyed it. I am in more agreement with Mrs. Puddles views, but are most professional sports ideal for children? If this had occurred in another country it wouldn't be as big a deal.
Isn't it fortunate that the main camera was not doing a zoom in when it happened?? Uh-huh. Football has never been called America's family pastime, and for good reason, but maybe MTV and whomever else should have considered that this wonderful and violent sporting event has become a "family" program.

This is exactly the kind of repercussions that they were expecting to accomplish. Do you see how everyone is talking about this stupid shit. It was a vehicle to stir sensationalism about two pieces of shit that supposedly represent our so-called teeny bopper pop culture. I didn't waste my precious time watching that ghetto crap. I don't see how it relates to football in the first place. To be honest with you, I'd rather see Willy Nelson perform than those fuckin tools!!
                      I went bowling instead!! :D
So this is what I say to their whole scheme to gain publicity!!

That is the exact point I was trying to make...Not so much a parent/ non-parent one. One that addresses the whole pop culture society that they are attention hungry head cases. Of course this was done to make everyone talk about it..Just like the MTV awards. Granted, they were on cable, and some parents don't let their kids watch. What I posted was not meant to offend, only another viewpoint that everyone is making a huge deal of this, and it is exactly what was intended. Sure, it was irresponsible and crass. Unfortunately, in today's sex crazed and violent TV, it leaves parents with little options as to what they will or will not see. No one does ever think of the impact it will have o kids...But like Cory said "who cares". This kind of publicity is what they wanted, and look, 3 pages of all the hoopla around it. It's a double edged sword. If you don't talk about it, and raise a stink, who knows what will happen next, and standards will again be lowered. If you do talk about it, we play right into their hand...

The Superbowl HAS become a thing for families to enjoy together. Kids are watching it...if they were not, they would not be talking about it in school. MTV is not a good role model for our young children and I don't let my daughter watch it except for the occasional time where I've already seen the video. I also supervise what music she's allowed to listen to. When she's older she can listen to what ever she wants, but at this age it's still my duty as a parent to guide her. I think it was just a bad mistake to let MTV run the show. The lyrics of the song are not what you want your 12 y.o. daughter to be listening to...talking about getting her clothes off...then the added drama of the exposed tit, it's just too much.

As parents we are pissed off when something like this happens by surprise. Parents should at least be able to trust the most popular football game in the country to be cool to watch with their kids. My daughter goes to sporting events like baseball games, hockey games, the World Series...these are things we do as a family and the events have always been child friendly.

I'm know probably being a bit biassed here but I also feel there's a difference between two women sharing a kiss and what happened here...younger children will see the tender nature of the kiss vs. the agression and sexual inuendos displayed in the other act.

I love Janet Jackson but I think she is looking a little rough this year. I don’t really approve of what happened I am far more disturbed by what happened hear in Boston after the supper bowl. We had a person drive into a crowed of people killing one and sending others to the hospital. Fans turned over half a dozen cars and totaled a news van and set bon fires in the street. I just don’t understand this behavior.

Mrs.P & Stromba -- I agree with your points 100%. I guess you have to have kids to understand.

I've always watched the superbowl with my parents ever since I could remember. It was never an "adult" show. We've always watched football every weekend in my house. My parents even have season tickets to the Browns games... I've also never brought my daughter (3-1/2) to a game because of the language at the games... I choose as her parent, she doesn't need to be hit with the f-bomb for 4 hours from drunk fans.

For everyone who keeps thinking its about the breast.... it's not, my daughter has seen mine in changing a million times. It's the sexual nature of the way Justin ripped off her clothes exposing her. Kids don't get that. Yes they all see naked bodies, but they don't see or understand sexual acts.
