  • Grandparents computer is shot

God damn viruses!! I'm assuming anyway.

You turn it on, and you don't get into windows or anything. You get a screen that says there's some kind of error (perhaps I should have written it down) lol

Gives you options to "start windows normally" "start in safe mode" "start at point of last successful logon".....

no matter which one you pick, it just brings you right back to that same screen to choose again.

But right after you pick it, you get to the screen where you can hit f1 to get into setup, or f10 to get into system recovery. I tried system recovery, and the first time it came back with a missing file. Any time I tried it after that, it either rebooted right when I tried, or went to another error screen that said checking disk, disk ok, please wait while windows starts........but it never did

    arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

Oh yeah, can anyone help me? :D

It is. That was my next suggestion to them, as soon as they find the disk! lol

well without the disk you can do anything. when they find it, start the computer up and hold in F3 or whatever button it tells you to go into a propt. put in the cd and and select, "start from cd" uncheck start from drive C.

Hopefully, it is something that can be repaired w/the disc. When I got hit w/a virus from Kazaa, it corrupted my HD and there wasn't a damn thing that could be done. I got hit through a software and hardware firewall as well as McAfee Online Security. Good luck!

When you do get it repaired make sure and do the winodws update. Make sure it isn't the virus that alot of us got a week ago.

Shutup BD you can write me poetry or something :D

Ok I'm still broken :( First off, he said that it didn't come with a windows xp disk (is that true??) and that he made six "boot disks" cuz he was prompted to do that when he first started the computer. So we tried those disks, but it didn't do anything. Still, all you can do is get into setup or system recovery. Recovery starts to run (for like 20 seconds) and then reboots or gives a blue screen error that you can't get passed without rebooting. :(
