Housemate Smells Bad

I live with 4 guys and one of them stinks really bad. We've all spoken about it and tried to drop polite hints but he hasn't seemed to get it - or else he doesn't care. He doesn't shower much - I think the last time he showered was 2 weeks ago - and his feet smell terrible. He doesn't wear deodorant/antiperspirant. I just moved in a month ago but I hear this is a relatively recent thing, seems to be coinciding with a sort of depression that he can't get any girls. Oh, and my roommates said that they think part of the problem is that his ass isn't clean because when he walks by it smells particularly bad. Any ideas on what to say? He's kind of a sensitive guy.

There's not much you can do but give him a woman's perspective on how he's only making it worse. Then be-friend him show him a good time out and about. There is somone for everyone. As hard as it may be , you may even have to make him relize when he's got something good in front of him. I'm sure he looks to get somone physically attractive like his friends instead of looking for someone who will treat him right.

I agree i would do it this way.
I worked with a girl who was the same way didn't shower and man did she stink we would tell her to shower or something and finally we had to go by shower stuff ...soap,shampoo and crap and give it to her. She finally took the hint

If you're not comfortable talking to him directly, write it in a note and tape it to his doorknob. Explain that although he may not notice it on himself, others smell his BO and it's offensive and that showering daily is an important part of hygiene. Give him a bottle of shampoo, some antibacterial liquid soap, a washcloth and anti-persperant in a bag and hang it on the doorknob. If you really want to be nice about it, wrap it up like it's for Vallentine's Day.

If he doesn't use them, then it's time for all of the hosemates to sit him down and tell him it's time to clean up or get out.

We had a guy like that in the Marines. It was easy for us. We through his shit out side and when he came crying about it we tied his nasty ass down and used a scrub brush on him.
After that we told him if he didn't start keeping himself clean and we had to do it again it would be so nice.

Ahh the good old days when you still haze a guy and not get in trouble if went and cried to his mommy about it.

In your case I would go with what Puddles said or sit him down and have man to woman talk with him and explain why he isn’t able to get any girls.

Does he have any friends you can talk too. this is extremely abnormal behavior, and he needs some help, could be depression etc.

Best thing too realize is probably not much you can do, he's most likely really sick.

I know some religions are against showering during certain holidays. Could this be a reason maybe? Maybe he has an anal leak which I know happens a lot in gay guys! I just can't imagine someone walking around smelling like that for no reason at all. Maybe it is political you know like the tibetans..

It's definitely not a religion thing. I think he's just depressed. I was actually thinking of doing MrsP's idea of buying him some shower stuff and giving it to him for V Day as a major hint. I suggested one of my roommated give him an antiperspirant and tell him it was a buy-1 get one thing to make it look more casual. I think the guys are gonna sit him down and have a chat. I think if I do it, note or otherwise, he might take it a little rough because its a girl that just moved in rather than one of his good friends.
