Yes, Trip, it is sad! I see kids all the time in stores who are talked down to or just slapped for things that if delt with differently, could be managed much better. I feel awful for them. I think part of why I understand my daughter so much is that I had problems in school myself, unable to focus, pay attention to the teacher, trying to study and memorize things for school and it just never sinking in. Kids need nurturing and support from their parents to overcome their difficulties. All the physical discipline in the world will not help an inattentive child, in fact it will more likely distract them even more. Hopefully as years go by, people will continue to learn better parenting skills to help their children grow up with a happy childhood into a successful adulthood.

I personally want to know if ADD is something that can be caused from trauma and or stress, I have ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and my psychologist told me that it could well have triggered ADD .. how that would happen I'm not sure. If anybody has information about ADD and whether or not it is linked to stress/depression/anxiety I would appreciate any info, all these I'm currently trying to work through.

Maybe it's the ADD that's triggering your stress, depression and anxiety problems. I haven't really researched ADD in years, but from what I read, they had no idea what caused it.

Since I moved it's almost as if everything has been triggered over again. I was getting to the point last week where going to work would make me cold sweat, I couldn't focus on my job and I felt as if walls were closing in on me, alot of calls home and alot of talking things over with friends have helped me this week, but it does seem that everyhting goes hand in hand in my case.... however anxiety is somewhat seperate if im around more than 3-4 people in a room ill go nuts like im on 500mg of clen.

I remember there was a study somewhere where they changed the child's eating habits, and it dramatically changed their add or adhd. I am sure it wouldnt CURE anything, but most likely calm the symptoms of over hyperactiveness. Not sure exactly who did it and when though. Im sure a search could find something?

                  lexi,

I discussed this same subject with my doctor 3 years ago, and he wasn't sure. I'm convinced thier is a link, and sure folks are working on it.

Six meals a day and my mind is like a calm ocean.

High glycemic carbs, while once and awhile have no affect, over a 2-3 day, 2-3 week time frame, get's me just enough off the little things become tough.

And John, your doc probably knows best, so could be so, don't see why not. IMHO people on borderline if something traumatic happens, then they tend to focus on it, and are always on guard for it happening again, because no. 1 value of most folks is security, and the mind will do most anything to maintain life and perceived happiness.

Best thing to do is read a half dozen books on ADD, education is the key, not what some one else says, what you discover and determine works for you specifically, you're smart enough, others can help lead and point in direction, yet they can not make the ultimate decision, only you can, and the more informed you are the better you yourself will be.

                  good luck

The reason I asked about being on cycle, is that often, anxiety will become more intense while on.

Have you ever tried natural supps. like St. John's Wart, or 5htp to help with depression?

http://www.1001herbs.com/stjohnswort/index.html St. John’s Wort is known for its benefits to the nervous system, specifically for help with mild to moderate depression. Time-Release St. John’s Wort contains the finest raw St. John’s Wort herb, standardized to contain hyperforin (3.0%) and hypericin (0.2%) in a base of 450 mg St. John’s Wort extract powder. St. John’s Wort contains at least 10 pharmacologically active constituents. Numerous studies show that one of these, hypericin, appears to act similar to MAO inhibitors and serotonin-reuptake inhibitors, which elevate mood and act as a mild sedative. Recent studies further show that hyper-forin may have powerful mood-enhancing properties.

Valerian root is also helpful for anxiety and stress.

http://www.1001herbs.com/valerian/ Valerian has been used as a sleep aid for over 1,000 years. Its ability to help relax the central nervous system, promote feelings of calm, decrease levels of anxiety and stress, and enhance sleep are known to millions the world over.
