What does working out right entail? What sort of program are you on?

Thats actually pretty common...thats why its called "powerlifting". You dont have to be a huge bloated hulking mass of muscle & fat to squat 500 pounds. Everybody believes in genetics being important to bodybuilding, so why not say genetics could do the same in powerlifting? :) ........thats being no different than the media we always complain about pointing fingers for steroid bullshit etc.

Its impressive but lets face it, if you took away; the power lifting suit, the extra wide power lifting belt, the power lifting style squat and all, would they really be so impressive.

I bet half those guys who can squat 645 for 1, would struggle to do say 3 sets of 20 with 320lb, with no power suite, Power lifters belt, and if they were made to squat properly like a bodybuilder, going right down and without the extra wide stance or leaning forward.

You can squat 320 for 3 sets of 20? I sincerely hope so if you are hinting that powerlifting is completely aid dependant.

I never said powerlifting is COMPLETELY aid dependant, did I?

Don't get me wrong 600lb plus is a massive lift and very impressive in its own right. What I am saying is that yes, that lift and others is aid dependant at least partly, I'm not saying that the guy couldn't do jack without the lifting aid devices but from those I have spoken to that do compete in the sport of powerlifting, they say that the suite etc make a big difference.

Are you saying that they don't?

Sometimes I see weighlifters bench pressing and I'm sorry but quite frankly its embarrasing to watch, you get a little guy with his four buddies all round him, arching his back like a crab and contorting himself so as to make the lift as easy and short in range of motion as possible.

Billy half reppers I call them, Pathetic!

Can I squat 320 for 3 sets of 20 you ask? Honestly no, why, does that make a difference to the credence of my opinion?

I am getting pretty close to that in fact, and I regularly squat with 400lb, no wraps, just a velcro belt and certainly no lifting suite.

Could just be good genetics and hard work. My best friend squated 700lbs in high school the first time he stepped under the bar. The record still stands (since 1986) and is posted on the wall of the school gym at Granby (sp?) high school in Virginia. He had never touched AAS at that point; his first cycle was only a few years ago when he was in his early thirties. He recently deadlifted 665 lbs on his first attempt too and this with a fucked up back. The man is just really strong.

ok but in the same perspective lets see a bodybuilder do 600 for 1 i mean its all a matter of what you train for ..... i train for power u prolly train for mass .... two diff kinds of workin out .... but yea every1 has there own opinoin bout every sport but just dont try and act like ur better bc ur a bodybuilder

there are lots of PLers that bbuild and vice versa. . .I enjoy a good bench comp even though I stear clear because I don't want to tear a pec and end my bbuild career. . johnie jackson is a prime example of a bbuilder who is freaky strong as well in PL.
To those that think that PLifting can only be done with aids. .that is bunk. .lots of guys lift with just a belt and wrist wraps. .same as a bodybuilder and I do know guys that bench 500 with no shirt, wraps etc. . .

A lot of strength is genetics, plain and simple.
