  • ? for FL residents...

Hey everyone, I will be moving from Boston to Miami in a few weeks. I don't know anyone there or know the area at all but I need to find a gym as soon as I get there, anyone have any suggestions on places I should check out? Also if anyone has seen, adds for trial memberships in the area please let me know because at this point I know nothing about the area, and don't even know where my apt is in relation to everything else, so I don't want to get locked into a membership somewhere that ends up being out of my way once I get settled. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Irishgirl, I love Boston as a city but im sick of the cold and i think i need to take my life in a new direction. Plus i have lived in MA for most of my life, a few years in CT for school and a few months in MD but its time for a change of scenery.

Hey, I live in Ft. Lauderdale...:)

Bally's has a trial two week membership, just go to their website. Also LA Fitness and 24 hour fitness has free trial memberships on their websites. We checked them out but ended up getting a membership to Golds Gym, their gyms are SOOO much better! We didn't do a trial with them, we were so impressed that we got a membership after we worked out there for a couple of hours. I highly recommend...

Almost all of the gyms down here do the trial thing, its just a matter of finding one you like...go check out the websites and you can also find one in your area.

PM me with the area or zip code and I can find one close to you.:D

I'm in Tampa so I don't know your area but definitely do the 2 week trial memberships at a few gyms. This way you'll get to use their facilities and also get a good feel for the driving in the area.

I relocated to FL from NY and absolutely love it. I hope it works well for ya! I usually go up to Boston every winter...I completely understand you wanting to get away from the weather. LOL

MrsPuddles I've been thinking of doing the same thing you have, but are the summers much different down there than what they are up here in New England? I can imagine its a lot more humid, but is the heat really intense?

In Tampa from mid May until late Sept. you can expect it to be 92 degrees daily with high humidity and afternoon thunderstorms that are usually very short. I'm used to it now but the first few years it was a bit much. As long as your car has good a/c you'll be ok. It cools off into the low 80's at night but the humidity doesn't go away. I've been here for about 15 yrs. now and honestly, I feel chilly when it gets to 70. Sweaters and jackets go on below that. LOL I love it here and never want to move back up north.
