  • Why can't these BUTTHEADS learn that we are all the same

    http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...palestinians_3

The thing I dont get is tier believe that we are evil. They say we are the messed up ones. This is not right for people to think this way. They all have psychological problems beieving in crap like that and luanching wars because of what they believe in. Why can't they realize the harm and damage what they are doing to others and the enemies they are making. If we could all get along the world would be a better and dsafer place. Maybe helping each other out we can help build better lives for people in poorer countries. It pisses me off that they call us evil, when we are actually trying to help out and create peace amoung people.

New Hamas Leader Calls Bush 'The Enemy'
    2 hours, 42 minutes ago

By IBRAHIM BARZAK, Associated Press Writer

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - The new Hamas leader in Gaza on Sunday called President Bush (news - web sites) an enemy of Islam and said that "God declared war" against the United States and Israel — but stopped short of saying the group would strike U.S. targets.

The Hamas chief, Abdel Aziz Rantisi, renewed threats to attack Israel in retaliation for the assassination of the group's founder, Sheik Ahmed Yassin, last week. He was addressing a Hamas rally at Gaza City's Islamic University.

Last week, immediately after the killing of Yassin, the Hamas military wing made veiled threats against the United States, but leaders of the Islamic militant groups later backed off.

Rantisi himself said last week that Hamas' conflict is with Israel and the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (news - web sites), and that the group has no intention of opening a new front abroad.

Rantisi said it was no surprise that the United States vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution Thursday condemning the killing of Yassin.

"We knew that Bush is the enemy of God, the enemy of Islam and Muslims," Rantisi told the crowd. "America declared war against God. Sharon declared war against God and God declared war against America, Bush and Sharon."

"The war of God continues against them and I can see the victory coming up from the land of Palestine by the hand of Hamas," he said.

Israel is taking the Hamas threats seriously, including statements that Sharon and other Israeli officials are legitimate targets.

Israel has increased security and assigned armored Cadillacs to several Cabinet ministers, one minister said on condition of anonymity. The minister refused to say how many armored cars were provided, but said Likud Party hard-liner, Gideon Ezra, was among those who received one.

In the past, Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (news - web sites), a former prime minister, used an armored car on occasion. The only government officials who regularly drive in armored cars are Sharon and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz.

Since Yassin's assassination, Israeli has tightened security measures. Israeli border patrol, troops and police have been sent into the streets, setting up roadblocks and checking IDs randomly. Cafes, buses and malls emptied out for several days as Israelis braced for retaliation.

Nine Israeli lawmakers have been given 24-hour protection, among them Likud hard-liners Yuval Steinitz and Ehud Yatom.

Rabbis, including Israel's current and former chief rabbis, have been assigned security guards, said a security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, a prominent religious leader and founder of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, moved his weekly Saturday night Bible study class to a secret location due to reported intelligence warnings that militants are targeting rabbis.

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Yaalon and other senior generals have also been assigned additional bodyguards, officials said.

Israel's Foreign Ministry increased security at embassies, consulates and missions abroad following the assassination. Israeli diplomats at missions in Qatar and Mauritania were brought home a week earlier than scheduled for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

In a West Bank village near Hebron, Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian fugitive during an arrest operation Sunday, the army said. The fugitive, Jamal Atel, was a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militant group linked to Yasser Arafat (news - web sites)'s Fatah (news - web sites) movement. Atel fled to the roof of his house when the army came to arrest him, and soldiers shot and killed him, the army said.

Israeli troops also raided the West Bank city of Nablus on Sunday, surrounding a house and exchanging fire with Palestinians, witnesses said. Neighbors said troops arrested two brothers, one of whom was a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a group loosely affiliated with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah party.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment, but earlier said that troops had arrested two Palestinians in Nablus, including one who they said was an Islamic Jihad member planning to carry out a suicide bombing in Israel.

Fanatics are always dangerous. Anybody who has to believe in a way that excludes anybody else's point of view is a ticking time bomb. the interestng thing is that all these terrorist psychos are in the Middle East. You see some minor guerilla stuff in South America and Europe, but the real suicidal freaks are in the Middle East. What's in the water??????

I hope the Israelis kill him within the next week or two. People might not be so quick to get in line for that job if they know it's a guaranteed death sentence.

The problem is that another action like that will further (if that's possible) alienate the Israelis from the Palestinians. In depth, the problem is twofold:

                    1) The Palestinians haven't had a legitimate leader to speak for them for decades. Arafat has seen to it that he is the sole voice of a people who largely DON'T support him yet he holds sway over the radical groups there. As you know, it is the radical people who get the most press time. The majority of the population there does want peace but lack the representation that they deserve to achieve their part of a possible deal. 2 years ago, Israel offered them 98% of what they wanted but Arafat rejected it and the Intifadah began. As a result of violent actions by a few, all of the Palestinian population suffers. Their travel is severly restricted, they cannot hold jobs that require travel into the fenced zone due to such restrictions, their food supply is scarce and commerce is virtually non-existant. In short, they have nothing left to lose and are a desperate people.

                    2) The general Israeli population wants peace as well. The policy of assassination by their government isn't working and serves to stoke the fires of even Palestinians who may otherwise NOT be adverse to an Israeli state. Retaliation killings achieves no purpose for either side, as there will be other perpetrators and victims on both sides of the issue. Escalations in violence serves no one and has and will continue to bring into conflict other nations in the region and elsewhere. The Israelis don't have a lot of choice as far as restricting movements of the Palestinians in their territory. The must provide some level of protection for their citizenry. At some point, steps must be taken to roll back such restrictions on the Palestinians and offer an open dialogue. The problem is that no one credible is allowed to speak for the majority of the Palestinians and represent their interests as long as Arafat is alive.

Intrinsically, both groups of people want the same things; to live in peace with one's neighbors, to earn a decent living, to raise their children in a safe and healthy environment and autonomy over their own affairs of state. That is something that all people deserve and should be afforded. These two nations will not likely be able to resolve these issues between themselves. It is something that only strong leadership from the US (and possibly other nations) can help to achieve through honest and open dialog. The peace of the entire world may just depend on it someday.

I dont believe the palestinians want peace...they want nothing less than the total destruction of israel as does every single muslim country....these lands they constantly fight over are a result of israel beating their ass in the six day war...look at the size of israel and all the muslim nations surrounding it...they cant afford to be lax....

                          Racer,

You are only hearing the radical voices and not necessarily the majority of Palestinian voices. If seperate states are created with the autonomy to run their own affairs, much of the current tension subsides. There will always be extremists in the Palestinian poulation as well as in the Israeli population. Bring the jobs back and let these people earn a decent living and other things start to fall into place. Jimmy Carter brokered a peace plan between Israel and Egypt in the late 70's that still stands today. It can be done but it takes effort and representatives who are willing to be honest brokers in a peace plan. Total destruction is voiced from Hamas, much like Al Qaeda wants total destruction of the US. Like Al Qaeda, they are but a group and not a complete nation. Don't confuse the voice of a few with the wishes of the majority. They are not the same thing.

                          *A side note *
Approximately 80% of the young and middle aged Iraqi population is unemployed at this point in time. Without jobs and money, their free time is much more likely to be saturated with anger towards the occupying forces. No money and free time = anger and time to vent it towards whoever appears to have caused it. A vibrant economy where a young adult can earn a reasonable living will help allieviate much tension there in Iraq too. When they have a lot to lose this population will be less apt to support the insurgents. That is a key to successfully rehabilitating that country.

thats a good thing the US is doing something for thier country. We are helping them establish a beet country instead of being brutally beaten, or living poor. I hope after all that war shit, everytihng turns out good.

Just like in Mexico. I go very often cause i have family there and its next to my city. I get sadden by the people whe they ask for money. Why do they ask for money, because the govt wont help them out. They arent like us, that we get taxed and for our own use, freeways, stuff like that. Medicines, blah blah blha. Then u got thousands of people who are homeless, I seen them and spoken to them. I used to go to my grandmas house alot when i was younger and it wasnt nice seeing people suffer. They dont even had money for a damn coke or sprite. Not to mention for a bag of chips. Theres alot of people out there in the world that need help or a jump start in many ways. Like Mexico could be a very rish country if they use their Petroleum. The cities are nice, nice decent people there. If i had the power, Id make everyone equal, no judging.
