LOL Sounds like home to me!

Although I'm really not Italian, most of my friends and neighbors were Italian when I grew up and then I married into an Italian family. I absolutely love it! My neighbor, Uncle Tony, made pizza every Saturday and Sunday dinner was the best. I loved summer for the fried zucchini flowers and fresh tomatoes. His garden was 50% tomatoes, and the rest was zucchini, asparagus, onions and garlic and herbs. I really miss those days.

I was embarrassed however the first time I met Stromba's grandmother. He had given our cat a nick name that I mentioned to her and she turned bright red and laughed. Stromba later told me that it basically translated to "dick in the ass." I had no idea!

            And you REALLY, REALLY know you're Italian when . . . .

Your grandfather had a fig tree.

You eat Sunday dinner at 2:00.

            Christmas Eve . . . only fish.

Your mom's meatballs are the best.

You've been hit with a wooden spoon or had a shoe thrown
            at you.

You know how to pronounce "manicotti" and "mozzarella."

You fight over whether it's called "sauce" or "gravy."

            You've called someone a "mamaluke."
I think this is the list my family fits into. I think the "sauce" or "gravy" discussion comes up at one holiday a year, atleast.

            LOL!

Does the fact that every Italian curse word inlcude sex and a curse word matter? I can't really write Italian so, I'm not going to try.

              Half Sicilian
              Half Northern Italian

Many of those things are true.
