DG, if your son doesn't already have one, get him a life vest and make him wear it at all times when he's at the beach, it'll make your time there more relaxing. For the baby, a portable playpen with a cover over the top to keep the sun out will be a worthwhile investment. Of course, a really high level of sunblock for the kids too.
