  • Pumping Iron./ Good Read

Once you decide to come down this road, you'd better be packing because there's no turning back!

The decision to become a Bodybuilder is one that has no room for looking back. Once you've decided to commit to it, you operate at one speed, “Full Throttle!” There is no room for second guessing when you enter the gym, when you get under that bar you have to believe that “This” is what you live for!

This next rep, this next set! Nobody but you can move the weight, so now is the time to step it up!

Bodybuilders from around the world engage in some kind of psychological warfare at some time or another when approaching a big competition. There are little Tests we put ourselves through to see if we have the “Right Stuff!” Certain situations we find ourselves in, to challenge the best of what we have to offer!

It is at this time, we Sink or Swim.

When we are nearing the “Big Show”, we are fatigued, hungry, restless and lonely most of the time, as the journey to the stage can be a tiresome experience to be sure. However, the flip side is what keeps us going and moving forward is The Thrill of Victory! Sure, some of us will never experience the kind of Victory that results in a big Trophy or Medal but the Victory I am referring to is one of Self Improvement, Self Empowerment!

There can be only one winner in a contest for First Place but when we are speaking of points of references, where each athletes begins their journeys, Victory can be had by many athletes come show time.

“The last time I saw a happy Loser was when I saw this Loser LOSE!”

Needless to say, the happy challengers were happy for different reasons that go far beyond the recognition of 8 to 12 judges opinions of them, which are subjective at best.

These “Happy People” get the true meaning of Victory when they compare their Before and After photo's when the show is over.

The Happy People can recognize that with more work or better effort, they too can stand in Victory Lane for a moment.

The Happy People can see that the journey and struggle in times of Self Exploration, can bring out the best in themselves to appreciate what it is like to sacrifice food, family and friendships to be the Best they can be!

When the commitment is made to become a Bodybuilder, life as we know it changes.

Our perception of what is important becomes impacted by how we live our lives, what kind of food we eat and how we good look in the mirror. That being said, the choice to become a bodybuilder is a choice that is Life Altering, involving our entire circle of friends and family. Not everyone is cut out to go down this road, although many have tried even more have failed. Success in bodybuilding is not measured by how many shows you can win but rather who and what you become as a person when the dust settles.

Do you throw tantrums when your announced 3rd or 4th place?

Do you Walk off stage before the ceremony is over?

Do you not acknowledge the other competitors on stage during the award presentation?

Bodybuilding is Character building, as well as Confidence building.

We become who we perceive ourselves to be by FORCE!

On stage, we show the final result of our commitment to the sport. Off stage, we show what the sport has turned us into as people. When we try a certain lift and fail, we can live with that. When we fail to try, we fail period.

Hence, we become Losers out of lack of trying for fear of failure.

Bodybuilders young and old, know the routine, live the Commitment, Deal with the set backs and fight back to prove a point!

    “We as bodybuilders aren't failures.”

We prove ourselves day in and day out that we can conquer all through our dedication to good nutrition, hardcore training and all out sacrifice when it comes to dieting!

We do it day in and day out, year in and year out!

There is nothing we feel we cannot do once we have put ourselves on the Firing Line of Judgment by other people, while we stand there half naked to be stared at! By the time the contest comes, in our minds the contest is already over! We fought the good fight, dieted to no end and trained like mad men to the end! Whatever happens come show time, we collectively are ready for whatever! We stand proudly at the nights end, waiting patiently for our names to be called. We don't hope we finish well because at this stage, we have no control over the panel of judges decisions.

We await acknowledgment from our fans and family who have stood by us, cheering us on and wishing the best for us!

The show is over and maybe we win or maybe we don't win but the one constant that is with us always as competitors is that, regardless of the outcome, we will be BACK!

The end of the show is just the beginning of another!

This my friends is Bodybuilding 101!

We build it up to tear it down, again and again and again!

Living the life you see, is not really a “Choice” at all, it is a Calling!

We as bodybuilders, have been called to arms by different channels but through one common denominator “Self Improvement.”

We all want to be better: Better people, better athletes, husbands, wives, sons, daughters brothers, sisters, neighbors etc.

Through bodybuilding, we can achieve a self awareness that is rivaled only by The Christ Himself.

When we are in touch with ourselves physically, we can move mountains when we get connected Spiritually!

Now is the time to build your body from the Inside, out!
