Im going to start boxing. Ive been wanting to a while but I met a pro at the gym today and Im all fired up now. I really want to be able to throw better punches and do it for cardio mainly. I may get in the ring after a while.

You'll LOVE IT! I swear I'd rate having a good sparring session along with getting laid. Talk about testing your mettle. I used to do it a lot, but now, there's nobody who wants to, they all got old, and the younger "whipersnappers" don't feel the need. Yup, next to wrestling, the best cardio thing you can do. Good luck, and never, never, never, spar without a mouthpiece, or without your hands being wrapped properly. Make sure you get a mouthpiece that doesn't gag or restrict your breathing, (you should actually always breathe through your nose, but when you first start, you'll get winded), but is big enough for protection. You should try some kickboxing after you get into the boxing for awhile...that cranks up the cardio level exponentially. You'll love it.

I knew a girl once, she couldn't wrestle, but you should have seen her Box!

Competitive martial arts utilizes much more oxygen and requires so much more stamina than most people would ever believe. Wanna get really winded? Learn a style that includes ground fighting...whoa! I thought they were gonna have to cut a trach into me so I could breathe the first few times, lol. On the flipside, it can be hard to keep a heavy build when focused on this form of exercise/self defense due to the energy expeditures necessary but shit, you'll have rock hard toneness.
