I think it's one of the ingredients in the tanning accellerator that stinks really badly once it's been heated up. Obviously it can't be your skin, or else you'd have blisters. I always smell post-tan when I use an accellerator, but don't when I use baby oil with aloe.

i have baby oil at home - i used that after my showers sometimes. i like it.

must be the accelerator... i used australian gold idol today....

I do even if I don't use lotion. I tan after I workout though, so I'm sure it's a lovely burned skin/sweat smell.

I sometimes smell like burnt skin, but I want to get a normal tan if I ever have time. I also tan after my workout so I can't move my arms enough to rub the lotion on in most cases.

I would think the smell is just from the burnt skin cells, even though you may not appear to be red. I only smell if I go for about 18 min. or longer which all depends on the beds.

Isn't GT a big tanning bed guru? He needs to chime in and fill us in on everything. :agree:

btw....california tan makes a body wash soap to use when you tan for various reasons. I was given a bottle for free and was impressed to some degree. It also doesn't smell like roses or any of that female type body stuff. Just a nice fresh smell, so the guys don't have to worry about smelling like a fruit, no pun intended, but take it as you may.

There's a distinct tanning booth smell, but it's not what I'd call "burnt." Just tanning smell. What can I tell ya?
