Decadence. Soft living addles the brain, rendering people incapable of coherent thought.
I always read about how people lied about their age or memorized eye charts just to get into the US army or air force in WWII and I have wondered if something similar would happen today.
For every Rene Gonzalez who tells me that Americans of today are not capable of such selfless sacrifice, there is a Pat Tillman who restores my faith in our country and unequivocally confirms the exceptionalism that has always defined us and hopefully always will.

It was an op-ed piece, thus the author's opinion. But...
He's still a gutless piece of shit who wouldn't know honor of it bit him in the ass. In a world where "it's all about me," there are still brave, committed people who know that the real rewards in life are about helping others and sticking up for what you believe in. Nobody can take that away from Tillman.

Well said, brother...I got chills reading that...no shit. One for the books, bro. Thanx!!
I can't but help notice what a class act Pat Tillman's family is. Their grief and sense of loss must be enormous, but there have been no radio or TV interviews, no appearances on Larry King Live, no interviews with Barbara Walters or Oprah.
Total class unlike some of the other losers who prostitute themselves on TV for their 15 minutes of fame. They obviously brought up Pat the right way.
I am sure the network weasels are salivating at the thought of a TV movie on his life. I hope their family has veto powers on this because I am sure they will tell the networks to piss off and jump in a lake.
