  • Food Pet Peeves

I'm pretty easy going but it just drives me nuts when I order an iced tea and they automatically put a wedge of lemon in it.

I had my lunch delivered yesterday and didn't touch the iced tea so I stuck it in the fridge. Today I go to drink it and it's got the damn lemon wedge in there. Lemon rinds are bitter and do not belong in my tea. Grrrrrrrrrr!

What are your food pet peeves?

I have to agree with you on the lemon wedge. I hate that shit. If they bring me tea with a lemon wedge in it I will send it back. The lemon just ruins the whole thing. My other thing is ordering a nice ribeye steak at a steakhouse and when they bring it to you it is an end cut. That pisses right the fuck off!

Ummm, I hate all restaurants because they all use disgusting sauces or creams and ruin perfectly good food with them. If I want my meat covered with something I will ask for it

Where I work, we are to put lemon wedges on the SIDE of the glass, not in them---as a garnish. If the customer wants to use it they will.

I like my food spicy so if it isn't spicy I'll send it back and ask them to make it spicier

I hate when I ask the guy behind the counter for 25 scoops of protein in my shake and he looks at me all crazy. I usually just pull his shirt over his head like a hockey player and knee him in the face. Then I run down the road skipping.

I hate when I ask if they have sweet tea and the waiter/waitress says, "Yes we have peach tea." or some other flavored tea.

If I wanted flavored tea I would have asked for it.

I don't know why, but that bugs the shit out of me.

And Taleigh puting the the lemon on the side of the glass sucks too. Cause I always end up drinking from that part of the glass some time during the meal.

I hate not being able to get good coffee...which seems to happen to me often when travelling outside of Canada. (There is no substitute for Tim Horton's once you're addicted)

I hate when I ask for a rare steak and it comes back medium-rare. This is a BIG issue for me, as I like filet VERY rare!

I hate it when restaurants 'sneak' ingredients in that aren't disclosed on the menu....for example, sometimes veggies get drizzled with a sauce that's based on balsamic vinegar....I HATE balsamic vinegar!

I hate it when I order either pork tenderloin or rack of lamb and it is automatically cooked well-done. Don't they know that medium is perfectly okay for these meats...and actually leaves some moisture in them. Sauce is NOT a substitute for natural moisture in the meat!

Ok, done ranting now. Good thread!

I have to tell you when I was on my cruise they had some of the best, most consistent coffee I have ever drank. It was so good I drank it at each of my meals and when I came back to the states I missed it. I don't know what brand it was but it was soooooo good.

They must have been grinding up premium coffee beans fresh on board or something.
