  • Pet squirrel

My little girl found a squirrel in the yard. It didnt even have its eyse open and we have been raising it. It will come right to ya. Its pretty cool. We are gonna let it go in a couple of weeks. Built a house for it and was planning on mounting it in a tree and see if it stays around.

    thanx

Thats super sweet!!!!! :) I think that people who do that are awesome. Though I would be tempted to keep it in my house for fear of something bad happening to it. (Or that would be my excuse) hehe
    Good luck!

I'd keep it close. never rased a squirrel but most things we ever tried to release out door got killed.

Awwww... thats so sad. What about getting him a big cage or something? I know it sounds sad, but I think that not knowing what happens to the little guy may bother you and your daughter. :(
If thats not possible, I think the country would be best instead of a city or something... good luck either way :)

Yeah I have 2 girls one is 8 and the other is gonna be 4 soon. My oldest one loves animals, bugs, turtles, you name it. She has a bucket outside with tadpoles in it, she had a bunch of slugs(there slimy things) my wife brought some latex gloves home from her work for my daughter to handle those nasty little things. She will be very worried about the squirrel.

buy her a scunk. I love them. If my snake wouldn't eat (she already tryed to eat a dog once) them I would have a couple myself. very clean, use litter box and like to be held.

BTW it might be safer in a city park, donno. as a kid I did some volenter work at a wildlife refuge, and it seamed like everthing that was ever released into the wild was ether road kill or dinner for something. Maybe you could make it into a good park pet or something. Are you sure that you don't want to keep it? Best of luck though

I want a pet squirrel! I have always wanted one actually, my friend had a pet mallard duck that he kept for ever (his dad was a conservation officer). Would it be bad to keep it as a pet? I have seen people with "pet" squirrels on TV and stuff.

                  Cool....

Be careful...squirrel bites are very nasty, believe it or not.

Man, I remember when a squirrel fell out of a tree when I was younger. We took it to this lady that rehabilitated them and that was the coolest thing that happened

 I'll get you for that one....

No, seriously, squirrels harbor some bad-ass bacteria in their mouths and their bites infect more often than not.
