So I get this letter from Farmers insurance saying my truck was involved in an accident. I think I would remeber hitting another car. There is no damage on my truck but supposdly there is on the car. Now it was a "witness" that saw this happen and left a note on the owners car. The owner I guess filed a police report, because I have a number but I have to mail in a request to get a copy mailed to me . Anyways it was said to have been a car parked on 17th st. in the city. Now I know for a fact that I'm never near that part of the city. However there is a 17th ave. by my friends house and I do let him borrow the vehicle to run to the store which just down the street. Now the main question is if it's reported on 17th st. and it actually happened on 17th ave. is the person claiming the damage shit out of luck since the report may be filed wrong and it all comes down to hear say.

I recommend you sit and wait. Same thing happened to me once and my insurance company interviewed me and fought it out with the other people's insurance. Point is, if it wasn't you or if the address was listed wrong on the ticket or report, some lawyer (probably your insurance company's lawyer) is gonna fight to get it dismissed on a technicality. This is legitimate.
My only advice is don't say more than you need to, even to your insurance company. When theya ask "...17th Street?" just say "I never travel 17th St." Don't offer anything up unless asked directly. And then, tell the truth about whatever they do ask.
