  • American captive beheaded.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- An Islamic Web site linked to al Qaeda showed video Tuesday of a man who identified himself as an American being beheaded.

His captors said the United States refused to exchange him for prisoners in the Abu Ghraib prison.

"For the mothers and wives of American soldiers, we tell you that we offered the U.S. administration to exchange this hostage for some of the detainees in Abu Ghraib and they refused," says a hooded man standing behind the American.

"So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins, slaughtered in this way."

At the beginning of the tape, the victim describes himself as Nicholas Berg from Pennsylvania.

"My name is Nic Berg. My father's name is David. My mother's name is Suzanne. I have a brother and a sister -- David and Sarah," says the man.

"I grew up in Westchester, New York, and moved to Philadelphia."

He is then shown sitting in front of five hooded men. After the statement is read by one of the men, the victim is pushed to the floor and, amid his screams, his throat is cut. Finally, one of the captors holds up the man's severed head.

Earlier in the day, the State Department identified the body of an American found Monday in Baghdad as that of Nicholas Berg of Pennsylvania.

Berg was not a soldier or a civilian employee of the Pentagon, the State Department said.

A senior State Department official also said that the beheaded body of an American had been found but he could not confirm it was Berg.

The web site said the killing had been carried out by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of an Islamist terrorist group that has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on coalition forces in Iraq.

The voice on the tape could not be verified as that of Zarqawi.

And yet we have to worry about how we treat there soliders when they are in prison, fuck that, I was on my way to work this morning and I heard this bullshit and I started to get pissed but I figured I would let it go, but this is bullshit. I think that we shoudl treat all their prisoners of war the same way they treat ours, beat the shit out of them and then kill them cause they don't show ours any mercy but good for bid if we don't feed them every hour or let them go to the bathrooms.

According toa report i heard, Berg was just a small business man who wanted to make some extra money by helping with communications terminals in Iraq and was offered a good deal of money to help w/ it since there was risk involved

i don't think that regular old businessmen consider going over there for a little extra cash. either way that is fucking sickening. they streamed the feed? maybe "someone" should start streaming feeds of unidentified "hooded" men mutilating some of their citizens so them fuckers can see what it's like. i don't even consider those people human, the gov't should treat them like the animals they are and put them to sleep.

thats what happends from 1000 of years of brainwashing. its not the peoples fault or the soldiers fault. that is what their government has taught them. if that type of lifestyle is the only life you have known how would you know any better. I don't like it when people get lumped in with their government.

brainwashing or not you mean to tell me they don't know the difference between right or wrong? it isn't a new policy where the U.S. doesn't negotiate with threats like that. did they seriously think we would release any of their prisoners with their threats? they knew we wouldn't.

I deal with criminals all day long and most of them do not honestly believe what they do is wrong (no I am not a cop). now that is on a small scale, it is just as possible for a country of people to not know what they do is morally wrong. if you have never been taught what a moral is, would you know what it is? sure some people know better, the educated ones do.

bro alot of my good friends are criminals, (obviously i am not a cop) and i disagree with you. they (my friends) do know they're doing wrong they just don't care. and in comparison, the crimes i'm talking about range from theft to murder. shit happens. it isn't a question about morals. like i said, the men who killed Nicholas Berg knew damn well no one would be set free. yet they killed him regardless. that feed was intended to boost their morale. morals and right or wrong are two different things.
