In a time like this you must fight fire, with fire. Im just sick of this country being so worried about its image. Russia goes in and takes care of the chechnians, like the should be taken care of, no pity or remorse, just go in and wipe everything the fuck out. We did it to the Japenese, Koreans, and the Vietnamese, what the hold up now?

Its a sad society we live in, too worried about the politics and policies of war, rather than winning the war at any cost.
When we are concerned with how we are extracting information from these pieces of shit, information that could possibly save lives, but we have to be humane, we are the unites states, we are above this. We can fight animals and win without becoming animals as well, LOL, I love how we kid ourselves

We need a president who isnt worried about his public image, we need a man that will not hesitate to drop another bomb too make a point. Sorry, if anyone thinks this is out of the question, but remind yourself what were up against and watch the video again, maybe that will change your mind

Well said, Doom- The best reason not to mistreat prisoners is because you don't want the enemy mistreating yours. However, that only works when your enemy is semi-civilized. When you are fighting against cavemen who only respect force, force is what you must give them

MY SENTIMENTS, EXACTLY. The sawing around and around and whatever made it that much more horrid. That was so disgusting. The fact that it was distorted in some spots was fine by me. If it were a sword just taking it off, ok. But that is some sadistic shit. The devil incarnate is what Al-Queda is. Every last one of them. You tell me WTF an American contractor did to them. The scariest thing about this is, they think this is some sort of triumph for them. Just like 9/11. 1- to kill an American, and 2- to have it shown on video for all of America to see.

You are absolutely right. It's time to shit or get off the fucking pot. Get the goddamn pansy-ass UN people in there to maintain some sort of order, and call it a day. That's what the fucking UN is FOR!!! WTF!!!! Bush is SOOOO concerned with what the public thinks. You know why? Because he wants to get elected. He wants another 4 years. Fuck him. This whole conflict could have been avoided had he gone through the proper channels to get the CORRECT information. WMD??? Where the fuck are they?? The enormous national debt that we now have could have been avoided. But, we had to get a murdering dictator out of power. Great. You did it. Now go the fuck home and let the UN take over.

Now, all he's done is lie to the American people, created scandals, and forced men and women to die in this war for what, his father's revenge? As a citizen of this country, I know all politicians lie, and i vote for the one who lies the least. And I'm sorry, but I will NOT support any person who sacrifices young lives to win an election, avenge the past, AND LIES ABOUT IT.

            Nice STRATEGERY.................

Excellent post RS, you couldnt be more right on all your points.

His father couldnt get the job done, so now he has to proove a point. Were going to stay there until we get the job done, when the hell is that going to be?, we havent even touched base with liberating these people, you killed his sons and got him out of power, and now every twisted fucking radical that has been awaiting their chance to stand out is doing so. The only thing hes accomplished during his presidency is make this country spiral even further down the tubes.

Asking for another 25 Billion in aid for the iraqi's, fuck the iraqi's, why not use that 25 Billion to employee the people of this country, fight AIDS, cancer research, feed the poor...we have enough troubles here, but yet we just love to step in and try and save the world

Its not even a war anymore, its a media circus/feeding frenzy. Keeping everything in the spotlight, 24/7/365. The second a soldier farts in the wrong direction, it makes headlines.
And then we spend days analyzing this, give me a fucking break

This is the epitome of it all. I cant understand HOW they even had the BALLS to cut this guys head off... what made it especially brutal for me to see was when he spoke in the beginning. (On cnn) They edited it because they didnt show the beheading.
But the video of the beheading made me want to puke. UGH

:bawl: :bawl: I hope his family finds some sort of peace, though I doubt it. I wouldnt.

I think Doom is more right than even he knows. This administration has not made our fine nation safer from terrorism, it has INCREASED our danger as a whole. No one sane can truly argue against this point. Bush (in his stupid- or maybe cunning- autonomy) has done more harm to our country's image and actually fed the rage that the Extreme Islamic Fundamentalists thrive on. In other words, he has turned up the heat on our nation and it's inhabitants. Remember when he put the challenge out to the terrorist world with the statement, "Bring it on!"? So, I ask you now:

Is it because this administration is so inept and disconnected that they can't understand or see this?

                      OR

Is that actually the plan all along? To increase the threat of terrorism? Maybe they are crazy in the White House........crazy like a fox. Think about it for a minute...

Now that the US won the Cold War, we had no real enemies. Without a grave threat to domestic security, there is much less need for offensive weapons of war or US military presence in many places overseas. Large corporations like Halliburton, Dyncorp and Bechtel make the brunt of their income providing contracting services to the US military and its interests. Plus, you can't make as much money during peacetime as you can during an ongoing war, ask Lyndon Johnson and the military complex.

Without a clear and present danger to the security of the United States, there would be much less chance of curtailing Constitutional rights of the citizenry because if the nation isn't under threat, the inhabitants wouldn't likely trade those rights up for the false veil of personal security.

Fear is a necessary tool of a government (or an element in the government) to get its people to conform to its wishes. Up the fear factor and they will sacrifice even more liberties for a guarantee of some level of safety. You can roll what would be otherwise controversial policies through the Congress much easier if attentions are focused elsewhere. I can't help but believe that this is EXACTLY where this administration wants us. It is working slowly towards a police state in which we little by little, give up our freedoms to the government and big business- namely the large banking institutions who finance our government operations- and we become yet another resource to earn money for those entities through our tax dollars on interest payments for government loans. If this happens (restriction of our personal freedoms) a little bit at a time, we become conditioned to accept the next phase and so on. We aren't as likely to see a progressive change (actually, it's a regressive change) as much as if it had happened all at once. If anyone dare raises an objection to these policies, they are branded as an anti-American. Here is a quote that perfectly fits today's mindset:

"Naturally, the common people don't want war ... but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

                      - Hermann Goering- Nuremberg War Crimes Trials

When you control the media, banking, health care and the oil industries, you can create and carry out almost any type of policy that you wish. Without such distractions of war and terrorism, the national attention may eventually focus on improving domestic issues such as health care, the environment, the widening gap between the rich and poor, etc. Too much time to think. The government doesn't want you to think, they want you to TRUST them.

The other part of the equation comes from Dubya doing what he does because of a deep personal vendetta against his father George Herbert Walker Bush. If you really start to take a look at HIS policies vs his Father's policies, they are completely different in almost EVERY aspect. It is like Dubya is out to spite his father and prove that he can do things his own way and better than his old man could do. A sort of one-upsmanship, if you will. Examples of this type of behavior would include actually invading Iraq and removing Saddam from power vs his father's refusal to enter Iraq because it would create an imbalance of power in the region with Syria and Iran. Another example would be Dubya invoking massive tax cuts and keep pushing them even though it hurts the infrastucture of the US economycausing huge cuts in jobs, health care, social security, etc... His father previously had invoked such tax cuts (but not as massive and targeted to mostly the wealthiest 10% of the nation) and had the audacity to profess, "Read my lips...no new taxes!" LOL. Well, he saw that they were creating huge deficits and cuts in services, so he had the guts to reverse his policy and raise taxes to help regain the lost income. I didn't much care for G. H. W. Bush, but I do respect him for realizing what changes were needed and having the courage to do what was right for the nation even though it would cost him personally come re-election time. Bush senior upheld and enacted several environmental protection policies but Dubya reversed many of them, making our air and water less safe to breathe and drink for us and our children. Arms treaties developed or reaffirmed by the 1st Bush administration were dissolved and walked away from by Dubya and his good ole boys. The list goes on and on.

It's an ungrateful, spoiled rotten brat mentality by Dubya that drives him and his dangerous agendas. Have you ever heard him talking down his parents on TV? I have and it's totally disrespectful. I was appalled by it. He will do exactly the opposite of what Clinton or his dad would have done, even if it's the wrong thing for our nation's well being. It's becoming more evident as time passes that his running our government in a shoot from the hip mentality is putting our soldiers' lives and the economy of the US in great danger. There will be no changes made in policy with this administration either, as evidenced by the constant chattering of Cheney saying, "Stay the course."

Would you follow a drunk driver going the wrong way on the interstate? Of course not, because it's the wrong thing to do and someone will get killed eventually. Except in this case, we are not following him. We are the unwilling passengers and he's too disconnected from everything around him to listen to reason.

                      <rant off>

ps... these guys were going to kill Nicholas Berg regardless of any abuse at Abu Ghraib prison. They were just using the abuse scandal as a reason to kill an American. If not for the prison thing going public, it would have been some other reason.
