Let me start this by saying I think it was a terrible thing that happened to Nick Berg in Iraq, and my condolence goes out to his family and friends.
But......
Does anyone else wonder what he was doing over there in the first place? To me there is a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense, and also a lot of suspicious coincidences (and I don't really like coincidences). The news media keeps saying he was a contractor, but actually the FBI has now confirmed that he was not a contractor, not a gov't worker, and was not affiliated with the coalition. He was also recently detained in Iraq by the Iraqi police / coalition because of reported "suspicious activity." He was questioned 3 times by the FBI, released, and advised to leave the country - instead he checked into the Baghdad hotel. He had also been investigated a couple of years ago because Zacarias Moussaoui, the alleged 9/11 conspirator, had used his email account at the University of Oklahoma. This was dismissed as a coincidence, but like I said before, I don't really like coincidences.
Berg's death was brutal and tragic, and those responsible should be punished with a slow, painful death. But I still think there is a lot that we aren't being told, that will probably come out in the days and weeks to come. I just can't help but wonder what in the world an American citizen was doing roaming around Iraq in the middle of a war.
I know I'm fairly new here and don't post much, so please don't crucify me for this thread. Just wondering if anyone else thinks this is odd.
