  • cingular wireless users out there ...

I just want to express my utter frustration dealing with this useless company, the customer service reps are rude, and above all, amazingly stupid. Long story short I was told I was on a national plan and ended up being charged around $1,000 in "roaming charges". Not only did I try to get this settled by calling multiple times, I sent the dispute in writing. None of this came to any good at all, aside from being told by reps somebody would contact me in 7-10 business days (nobody did). I can't even express how pissed off I am right now, if you use cingular check out the reviews online (like i should've done) 9/10 users are bitching about being screwed out money, if you are thinking about using cingular DONT! Sorry to rant..

My g/f has cingular and it's the worst.... she paid for text and since cingular apparently has no towers anywhere, she's constantly on Cingular Extend and can't send/receive texts. Not to mention whenever I talk to her, it sounds like there's a forest fire in the background burning out of control. What more can you expect from a wireless provider owned by BELL and its affiliates. They screw you on your local/long distance phone bills, why not your wireless too.

Call your local new station. Most of them have an investigative reporter who publically puts bad businesses on the spot, especially when all other avenues of money/property reclaimation are used up. Try them first and then file a court paper. Court costs time and money, so it would be better for the newshounds to do the footwork for you. The odds of getting customer satisfaction increase dramatically when they are cornered at their offices by a pain in the ass reporter on the tv news.

I have Cricket and Cingular- no house phone. Cricket in my area is good- unlimited phone calls and no set daytime/nightime minutes- but it doesn't work outside of a set calling region. That's what keeps the price down. The Cingular reps are poorly trained and have crappy attitudes towards customers. The best remedy for this is to write a letter to the corporate offices and complain about the service level and explain that's why you are leaving their service for a competitor. Eventually they'll get the picture and make some changes in the way that they do business.

Those people on that site say every phone company is bad. lol. Read the reviews on every provider, they all have 2 out of 6 stars.

I personally use Nextel and I love it. I use the "walkie talkie" feature often and my calls are clear. Sana has AT&T and she likes them aswell although her phone is a pile of shit. lol

I have Cingular as well. We live in a highly populated area, and calls are still dropped and distorted. Ridiculous customer service.

I plan on switching to TMobile or Sprint as soon as my contract is up in July.

I would ask how many towers they have before I signed up for any plan. I don't care what price they offer if you can't get a signal then it doesn't matter. I would ask for what kind of coverage they have in writing and if they won't promise it then find a different carrier.

Last time I was in Boston, that was pretty much how everybody was! When I was visiting there I was with Cingular and never had any problems with roaming charges...and I'm from Florida! But now I'm with Alltel and I haven't had any problems with them for the past year or so!

Haha. Good luck. The average sales rep knows shit. I have a lot of experience running a few metropolitan wide wireless networks, know all about RF spectrum, Microwave communications, network design and implementation, oversubscription ratios, cell tower buildouts and coverage footprints. The guys building the Cricket system here (Nortel Networks) were one of my customers and I discussed their Cricket system at length. They were building out 22 cell towers in the region for a large metro area coverage footprint. Many of those towers were co-location spaces with my company's equipment, so I had a good idea already of what they had.

When I spoke with people at Cricket (sales reps, even the operations managers and house techs) they didn't know shit that I already knew. They barely knew the frequencies that their system operated on. Believe me, they weren't just trying to hide info, they just didn't know. The guys in the trucks who work at the actual towers are the only ones who really know squat. Many cell companies buy out other companies' assets (towers, leases, equipment, personnel, etc...) and customer bases to expand their own market share. Sometimes they are winging it for a while until they can catch up with what's really going on.

Any cell phone coverage plan will have a disclaimer on it somewhere to prevent getting sued by the customer if they drop an area temporarily. This is a standard practice. If they do promise, it's basically a word of mouth thing and will not be in writing. Big cell phone companies don't like accountability, lol. Your best bet is to talk to a lot of people in your area and get feedback from them on coverage, dropped calls, roaming charges, shitty sales reps, etc... That is really the only way to determine what company best suits your needs.
