That's gonna kick ASS!!! The storyline is from the "Dark Knight Returns" and it's going to be very dark and brooding. Unlike Joel Schummachers lame ass movie he did. He should be banned from making ANY comic movie. This flick is gonna kick ass, I like the way it looks already!

I thought the storyline was from Batman: Year One, which is a kickass story in its own right.

I have mixed opinions about making a movie of "The Dark Knight Returns." One the one hand, I tremble with anticipation about what could be, but on the other hand, the book is so perfect that I am almost certain the movie will disappoint because either the screenplay writer or the director will screw it up.

Ok here is some little info I found that says it based on events around the Year One storyline so in essence it will be based on or around that peticular storyline and not the Dark Knight Returns storyline.

Premise Notes: (9/11/03) Warner Bros. is being very tight-lipped about what exactly this take on the 'Batman' legacy is like, except that it will focus on the younger Batman (ie, not long after the setting of Batman: Year One). What is definitely known is that this film will follow one of the adventures of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, whose obsession with bringing justice to the evil-doers of Gotham City compels him to fight crime as Batman, master detective. There have long been rumors that the villain (or at least one of them) will be the Scarecrow, who uses drugs and chemicals to alter people's perception of reality, sending them into nightmare-like hallucinations. Harry Knowles of AICN is also reporting that another villain will be Ra's Al Ghul, an international criminal mastermind obsessed with taking over the world (and maintaining his immortality, after having lived 600+ years). Knowles also reports that much of the film will be set in London. The appearance of Ra's Al Ghul also suggests that his daughter, Talia (whom Bruce Wayne has had a romantic relationship in the comics), will also be featured. (11/21/03) Potentially clarifying the situation quite a bit, Cinescape reports that the Scarecrow may indeed be in the movie as the villain in the introductory scenes that establish the new Batman (in Gotham City), before he moves on to his next case in London involving Ra's Al Ghul, in which Ra's would then be the primary villain for the rest of the movie. (2/12/04) The super-spoiler-filled information posted last month at Dark Horizons has been confirmed as accurate. Basically, it's an origin story with Ra's al Ghul as the main villain and Jonathan Crane (AKA the Scarecrow) as a secondary villain though he's apparently not called the Scarecrow in the script. (3/26/04) Earlier this month, IGN FilmForce received a synopsis of the story which ties some of the known elements togethe

Thanks for the info, I-X! That was interesting - can't wait!

I love Batman - I don't think a single week has gone by in the last 10+ years that I have not read at least a few pages from "The Dark Knight Returns." That is my all-time favorite and occupies a place of honor on my nightstand.

You don't like the 'Tubbed' look of the batmobile? It looks kinda cool.

I'm with Blackdream71 in regards to the Batmobile. It's supposed to be a prototype for the Batmobile that we see in the Michael Keaton movies(Batman1 & 2). Personally I think it looks lame. No offense.
I hope this movie does carry the Dark tradition of the Batman comics. The poor treatment of Mr Freeze and Bane in the last movie was enough to make even the most hardcore Batman fan stay away from any new Batman movie.
I will ,however, pay the 10.00$ fee to see it in theaters.
