Worse Than Watergate

This is the title of the book I recently got. I have a lot of extra time on my hands due to my diet and training, so this is one of my choices. It is written by John Dean, former counsel to Richard M. Nixon. He actually served time for the Watergate coverup.

Anyway, the book's premise is the parallels made between the Nixon White House and the Bush-Cheney White House. So far it has really pointed out how Bush overturned the Privacy Act imposed during the Nixon administration (that all presidential documents are to be made public) the supression of public information to us, and my personal favorite- Cheney used to be CEO of the Halliburton company. An OIL company who did business with nations who exploit their people for the oil...one of them: IRAQ.

So far it is absolutely fascinating. Whether or not you are a Democrat or Republican or whatever, it opens a lot of doors.

The best part about the book, is that the author really seems to take a non-biased approach.

I'm not a die hard liberal, trust me. But, I'm sorry, the $400 billion debt we now have , the aftermath in Iraq, and the secrets the administration is hiding are all unexcusable. In addition, the new government funding cuts (largely due to the huge tax cut) have really ticked me off. Homeland security, education are among the programs that will be cut. Hmmm, let's see the rich pay less taxes so we can cut $$ from Homeland Security...I get it now.

isn the United States debt in reality a figment of our imagination??? The govt is constantly creating money, so this figure really does not matter....and who the hell can enforce a debt on the US Govt?? lol

As for the book, much of the information the author gets from past or current sources. The Washington Post, info from the 9/11 hearings. Last night I started reading about the runarounds Cheney and Bush did to avoid the 9/11 hearing altogether. WHY?

You're right, they can present it anyway they want. With the countless footnotes on the sources of info though, makes it kind of hard NOT to believe. Things Cheney did with Supreme Court justices while it was deciding on a case brought against him....How Cheney instilled his imperialistic attitude towards Bush, and how 9/11 made it easier to do so. It's more of an eye opener than anything that I bet a lot of Bush supporters don't know about him.

On the other side of the coin,
I was listening to Bill O'Reilly today and a caller made a great assessment of the upcoming election:

Bush has given people reasons to vote FOR him, and AGAINST him. Whereas Kerry has given no reasons for either. I'm not 100% sold on Kerry, but I for sure won't be voting for Bush. To me, he is the patsy and Cheney and his idealistic attitude, plans, secrets, and mysterious agendas are running this country.

No one can enforce it, it's the tax payers who pay for it; me and you. The current debt has been caused by the war, and the numerous government sectors associated with it; bankruptcies, unemployment,... you get the idea.

I don't know if it's so much a bad idea to get Kerry in, but I do know as of right now he hasn't give anyone real direction and has lacked leadership. Maybe he's waiting until the nomination.
