  • Bounced a check

That's so embarassing... that's the first time I've ever done that. And to make it worse, before I realized I did it, I used my debit card to buy $5 worth of stuff @ wal-mart... so I guess I'm gettin hit with $50 in fines instead of just the $25. I guess it's time to start keeping up with it again, which I haven't done since I was about 17.

I learned from my brother, not to do this shit! He had warrants out for his arrest because he had so many bounced checks! Do not make this a habit!

Ask your bank about overdraft protection. Some banks may charge a small fee, while some of thm offer it as a part of their checking accounts for free.

My banks gives me free overdraft of up to $400. While the bank will charge me a fee for going into overdraft, the checks won't bounce with the store and you won't get two fines for each transaction, plus it won't look as bad on you. Just pay the bank fine and be on your way since the actuall money was already covered and the store was still payed.

Yeah i have overdraft up to $500, but it costs me $25 per check or debit card transaction over that amount. So it's not like a real bounced check, but I still had to deposit my work check today @ the bank and even though nothing was said, i was embarrassed. It won't be happening again, guarantee ya that.

I never check my Balance in my check book and I never right anything down. I do have a savings account with is linked to me checking so if it does get to that point it comes oput of the savings instead of the checking

Although it's a very long read, it's very interesting and the story is well written and compelling.

My bank will allow my account to go into the negatives, they just charge me $18 everytime it does. Mostly because i've been with them for years and get paid through direct deposit ever since so they know they'll get paid every 5th and 20th.

Same here Bro! Although I have never had to do it, if needed the bank only charges me five buck for a transfer fee! Better than the other charges you could rack up!

My bank is the same way, they cover all my checks and charge me 25 for each overdraft check i write. For me thats better than having my checks being bounced. I have had my checking account since i was 18 and i have never balanced my checkbook.
