Is it Aderol that you guys are talking about? If so, it just be another name brand that I wasn't aware was available. If so, there are other non stimulant alternatives that are slowly going on to the market. You should talk to your doc and try to find an alternative treatment.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you on it for?

Ok, here we go.... Well Puddles, for Ritalin its more toward ADHD. And adderall is for ADD. You see ritalin slows people back to thinking at a normal speed. When usualy ADHD people their minds are going 90 to nothing. And with ADD people their minds are slow so they need basically speed to bring them up to normal.

Well I am ADD. And if and when i take the recommended dosages that i'm suppose to it works wonders. I'm really focused and i don't miss a thing when i take recommended dosage. If i'm not on it then i can read a whole book and not remember a thing. Or somone can tel me a story and i won't even remember what you said cause i was off day dreaming. But on adderall its different.

Anyways, my point is yes I am ADD and i do need it prescribed. But when you over do any medication then its going to affect you different. And adderall (amphetamine) is a speed. And when i take to much then yeah its like i'm on Meth. And ANYONE who takes to much of adderall it would affect them that way. Cause it is a speed.

Anyone could over do ritalin and it won't speed you up at all cause its not a speed. If anything it'll make them more calm. Now if they snort it then you're getting into another ball game. lol But adderall is a speed and when taken right its bring me up to speed with normal people. But if i over do it then i might as well be snorting meth.

Its called "Adderall." And the other alternatives work only half as good. I know what your talking about and Stratera is 1 of them. Kinda like taking prohormones compared to taking real steroids. Its night and day!

I had to double check as I was going from memory and here's what I found:

"Ritalin (Methylphenidate) is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. It has effects similar to, but more potent than, caffeine and less potent than amphetamines. It has a notably calming effect on hyperactive children and a "focusing" effect on those with ADHD."

Both medications, Ritalin and Adderall, are used to treat both disorders, ADD and ADHD.

Ritalin will not sedate a person who does not have ADD/ADHD.

"Because of its stimulant properties, however, in recent years there have been reports of abuse of methylphenidate by people for whom it is not a medication. Some individuals abuse it for its stimulant effects: appetite suppression, wakefulness, increased focus/attentiveness, and euphoria."

Something else very interesting I just read (particularly of note for the people who think giving ADHD kids medication leads to future drug abuse):

"When taken as prescribed, methylphenidate is a valuable medicine. Research shows that people with ADHD do not become addicted to stimulant medications when taken in the form prescribed and at treatment dosages. Another study found that ADHD boys treated with stimulants such as methylphenidate are significantly less likely to abuse drugs and alcohol when they are older than are non-treated ADHD boys."
