  • Your motivation?

    Motivation, drive, inspiration.........

    What tools do you use before/during/after workouts to fire you up and keep you that way?

    My favorites:

    Music=Ministry/ACDC
    Movie=Conan/VisionQuest

      My motivation is all mental. Nothing externally causes my motivation to rise. I go in to the gym with a drive that would conquer an army. I MAKE myself push a weight when I want it, even if it's just 2.5lbs more.

        My motivation is the mirror and knowing that I live with the person I shape every day.

              I agree with shortz. My motivation is entirely internal and derived from what I lifted the last time I worked the body part and what my goals are this time. I try to increase the weight a little bit, even if it is only an addition of one of those rubber 1.5lb disks, or at least get 1 more rep at the same weight as last time.

              I then totally focus on the next set and count down the 60 seconds between sets. I tune out the music completely - doesn't matter whether it is speed metal or classical playing.

                  Most of the time I'm not paying attention to anything other than what I feel happening in my body, counting my reps and how I'm breathing. My eyes are closed during a lot of exercises like leg presses, tricep extensions and assisted pull ups, stuff like that. I'm sure I look goofy but I don't really care, it helps me do what I'm doing better. Half of the time even if my eyes are open they're not really looking at anything as I'm kinda zoned out during the set. I watch myelf when I'm doing squats and bicep curls, etc. I guess we all have our own little quirks in how we train.

                    I find that whenever i can see myself in the mirror training i push harder for final reps, just my little quirk :p

                      So who else here knows exactly where to stand to get those bis and tris looking sweet?!! You know, where the lighting is perfect, even for that 120lbs dork standing in the corner.

                        I'm going to say everything. I will focus on what ever it is that makes me dig in. For the most part it's the same thing. But when I'm not feeling it that day, I can always find something else to focus on.

                            if your talkin music that gets ya goin Pantera and COC is what gets my blood flowin loud...heavy.........
                            will at times pop in the Dorian Blood and Guts tape....
                            as far as what makes me move the weight its the feeling you get when walking out of the gym like you just conquered your demons, like your standing on the highest peak yelling this is my mountian if you want it come and take it.

                              As for music I prefer hard and heavy....Godsmack, Stonesour, Bleeding Through, Megadeth, or anything by Zakk Wylde! Sometimes it's progressive....Dream Theater, Savatage, Evergrey! As for self image it's great to have people come up and ask for advice or ask what I do to build up whatever! It's a great mental boost to know that people in the gym think you have a great physique! It let's you know that all the hard work is paying off and definitely makes you feel better about yourself!
