Help....I need a new car!

Hi Everyone,

I thought that I'd post this to get an idea of what people think. My wife and I need a new car as the headgasket of her Neon has gone for the second time. We are thinking about the Hyundai Accent. Does anyone own one? Or perhaps have a recommendation? :cool:

Well, Hyundai's are acutally good cars...and as for replacing things on them they have probably the best warranties in the busingess..10 year 100k I think..The only problem is their crash worthiness..It would be worth it to pay for the extra airbags..side and such..as a smaller lighter car like that is going to sustain alot of damage..also the Mitsubishi Outlander is another good one..but affordability and warranty definitely go to Hyundai..check out Edmunds.com they have lots of info on vehicles--

Yeah, I think Hyundai has turned things around with quality. They are a Korean company and have gone from worst to near first in the JD Powers surveys. Their 100,000 mile warranty speaks for itself. Ha, not that I am ever going to be seen in one of them.

Hyundai has a pretty damn good warranty: bumper to bumper for 5 years or 100,000km....and powertrain for 7 years or 120,000km

Companies offer warranties to make customers comfortable. They won't offer something they think will cost them money though. Hundai is reasonably sure their warranty will not be used by the customer because their cars have become much better.

Personally, I've had the Honda Accord for the past 7 yrs. This is my 3rd one and I've got no complaints. I lease them so that's why I'm on my 3rd.

I've worked for both Honda and GM. I am telling you that Hyndai has their warranty not to make people feel comfortable, but because they knew it would be a huge sales bump. It's better to have lots of sales and fork over some money for repairs than it is to have no sales.

How come nobody mentioned a Volkswagen??

They are awesome, I own a done up Jetta and my sister a '86 GTI show car. They're fun, quick, low maintenence and you can get a 2000 (here in Canada) for about $13 000.

Anything german. Volkswagen is a much better choice then any korean car. Not so expensive as say mercedes or BMW, good on gas, much better quility and workmanship then korean crap.

ive been in the parts business for a decade. i can tell you this.
if you plan on keeping your car longer than 5 years with low maintenance.

no kias
no mitsubishis
no chryslers
no hyundais
no suzukis
no isuzus
no cavaliers
no focus'
nothing not designed for the intended use
nothing intended to be a hot rod


judging by your previous car and its cost and assuming it was used for what it was suposed to a few like priced recommendations

saturns- great service from the dealer, great resell
hondas-well built , great resell, great gas mileage
ford trucks- very well built
chevrolet trucks -same
no first year production vehicles. they always rush them to the lots and work the bugs out as they go.

german cars are great but the parts and qualified mechanics will cost you more over time
