  • The Da Vinci Code

has anyone else read this book? i've never been a fan of murder mysteries, but this is hands down the best book i have ever read! dan brown is brilliant and does a great job of blurring the line between fact and fiction. he presents the evidence in such a compelling way that you can't help but look it up to see if it was in fact true! i was astounded by the amount of accurate theological, symbolic, and philosophical information contained in the text! what a great read! i went out and bought "cracking the da vinci code" just to verify some of the info. the woman in "the last supper", constantine and the council of nicea, the god, amon, and godess, isis, fused in harmony and resulting in the hermaphrodite called the 'mona lisa' - great stuff!

i have to agree I read the Code in about 4 hours while I was at work. I was so engrossed in it. If you like that read Angels and Demons which takes place before the Code. both excellent books and gives the church what I always wanted it to have, a lesson. LOL

Can you also have her make a book report. I would hate to waste my precious time and actually read the whole thing.

well the plot and characters are obviously false but most of the information in it is researchable. that is also a weird sentence you wrote

you should watch your tounge - your ignorance is slipping through. any work of fiction that can stir the hornets nest accross the entire globe is brilliance any way you slice it...hardly a pile of crap. it obviously hit close enough to home to strike a chord with you and the many other members of the catholic church.

how many best sellers are published under your name, oh brilliant one?

I've heard quite a few people who LOVED this book. My mother just finished it and mentioned she'd give it to me, I can't wait to start it.

Read the book, plenty of intriguing thoughts, I always like something that makes me think. It was also a very entertaining book as well, the pace of the book moved along briskly, not dwelling too long on an overabundance of details that can sometimes bog down the action. I am not overly fond of mysteries, but I thought this book was good.

Similar books as far as pace and detail would be some Robert Ludum novels (Bourne Identity, The Gemini Contenders) and Thomas Harris (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs).
