Here is a long list of some people that have done this:
For fine detailing of cars and motorcycles of course.
I use a fine paint brush and a detailing tooth brush. I think I would go through too many Q tips detailing a car with them. Wait, I do use themn for something....cleaning my guns for those hard to reach places. :)

I pour about a half cap of peroxide in my ear and lay on my side and hopefully it will bubble. Feels good. then I swab with a q tip.
I cant believe you all dont do this... its great:D

Using water or peroxide to flush the ears is the only thing that is recommended for cleaning your ears. Simply using Q tips can impact the wax further into the ear. Not to mention, going to deep with a Q tip could damage the ear.
I have even taken a 60cc syringe filled with water and squirt it into my ear to flkush it out. Works great.
Another good alternative is to use the Bee cones. Those long cone shaped devices you can get at a natural store. You light the opposite end and the heat warms up the wax and draws it out. It is by far the best way that can be done to get wax.
