You don't watch enough Animal Planet and Discovery. THey have hudreds of clips of gators getting large prey...deer, elk, antelope....it's a suprise attack and they do it as a herd is crossing the river. Out of a few dozen, they are usually able to get a couple.Originally posted by Puddles
Gators are usually not very fast, so seeing it with a deer is surprising. The gator in the pic here looks huge!
My community is full of lakes with gators and although there are "no fishing" signs posted, guys will fish and have their kids and dogs with them...pretty stupid.

Just the opposite puddles, gators and crock are one of the fastest reptiles on the planet. they can have a dear or anything that comes close to the water in there jaws within a split second.Originally posted by Puddles

I had no idea they were so fast. I thought a deer would be much faster than a gator.
We have deer here too but they're little. First time I saw one in my yard I thought it was a big dog. LOL
Hmmm...maybe I do need to start watching more Animal Planet...or wear my glasses more often.
