Hmm actually it's not backwards....look at the other players in the background. His gate....the reach with his...uhhh lead leg...It is hard to bound like that if he was going fw?~?~?
When he does his little half turn and changes from fw to back...or back to fw... he does look like is is turning to a back pedal. His chest is fw to balance the reach of his reaching leg...if you notice his thigh's never really cross the plane of his torso (like it would if he was running fw....again he could be bounding like a gazel or some other fairy prey animal)
