Just curious, I'm going to be enrolling in college within the next few days, and becoming a personal trainer is at the top of my list

How much money is there in the field of personal training?

Yeah I would say it all depends on how many clients you can get, at the gym I recently quit working at I only had like 4 clients so it wasn't even worth the time. You make alot more money doing independant training. When working at a gym you only get a percentage of what the client is paying. Independant training is all profit...cash too

Shibb and meat got it locked.. You'll need alot of clients to make any real loot working for a gym.. I have at least 12 clients now, but half of them are out with injuries from doin' dumb shit, so I can't train them until they get cleared by the doc..
Doing your own thing is key, I'm thinking about it.. :agree:

Yeah if you set up a gym in your house or have equipment you can bring with you to clients houses, your set. You'll make some good money cause there will always be relatives or friends who want to be trained....or even the people that are afraid of the gym. Some people are just plain intimidated by the gym atmosphere.
You can make you own hours and everything...It's nice. Yeah there will be limitations to the workouts because of not having all the equipment a gym has but in learning to be a trainer you can learn how to work around it. Shit give me a set of db's and I'll give you hundred's of different ways to use em.
So I would say if your a really good at selling yourself you can do great at a gym depending on the type. If not try doing it yourself and see how it goes. Good luck bro

Bro try like Play it again sports, Sears, Walmart or Target if your low on funds. Thats what I did to set up a full gym, lookaround at stores you normally wouldn't think have fitness gear. You can find some pretty descent equipment cheap. I just bought an eliptical for 400 bucks from Sears back in January. If your training out of your house you can make some damn good money.
