Greg Maddux 2 wins shy of 300 wins

Greg Maddux pitched a great game this afternoon, in a 13-2, Cubs win over the Cincinati Reds. He gave up 4 hits in a complete game win, no walks and 6 strike outs. Not bad for an old man who only under a 100 pitches to get on step closer to a career milestone.

The way things look right now in baseball, he might be the last pitcher to reach 300 wins. A few might have a chance, mainly his former teammate, Glavine who is pitching his heart out for my NY Mets, but they haven't given him any run support this year.

Nice 13-2 win, bout time they give em some run support. Yeah he always steps it up 2nd half of the season he'll get 300 in his next 2 starts for sure.

The last two posts are dead on and as much as I like Clemens MAddux has never had one negative thing in his career ie. atitude problem headhunter piazza fiasco etc

Agreed. The man is not only one of the greatest pitchers of my life time, but he's also a class act. I'm a huge Braves fan and hated to see him go. He'll get to 300 in his next couple of starts.

I was reading in the paper yesterday about the cubs and how they had such a great year last year just to completly suck this year, and they pick up maddux and he is going to do something so amazing and it is going to be overshadowed by a horrible season. O yea by the way CUbs suck. GO white sox.:D

I hated to see the him leave the Braves organization! He is not only very talented, but he is very knowledgeable about the batters that he faces!
