I experience the sleep paralysis usually when I'm having boughts of insomnia but sometimes it happens even when I'm getting normal amounts of sleep. Usually it's from waking from a nightmare and just being unable to move or make a sound, then when I can finally snap out of it I can't fall back to sleep. I don't see weird things or feel anything on my chest, it's just an inability to move. Sometimes I get it as I'm falling asleep and I get a really loud noise in my ears at the same time. When it happens while I'm falling asleep, it'll usually happen 2 or 3 times in succession before I doze off. I used to be scared when it first started to happen, now it's just weird but not frightening anymore.
