  • Stupid landscapers!

Yesterday my neighbor was having some work done on her yard and the landscaping people cut our cable line. Do you think they knocked on her door and said anything? Of course not.

She didn't know why her modem stopped responding. I figured it out pretty quickly and went out to look at the box and sure enough, the line was cut. I went over and told her and we talked to one of the guys and they said they would tell their boss who'd just left for lunch and then call to get it repaired. Well, they did not call. My neighbor and I both made calls to have the line fixed but now it won't be done till this afternoon. Dial-up sucks but it's better than nothing. It didn't affect my TV since I have sattelite but my neighbor has no TV or internet service untill the line is fixed.

Of course the landscape people are blaming the cut on the line not being burried deep enough, but common sense dictates to be careful around the box. They were using a sod cutter instead of doing it by hand. Grrrrr!

The same thing happen to us, we called the landscaping company they never did anything to fix the problem. So we called the cable company they came out and they ended up repairing the line.

Of course we ended up paying for the repair. Which totally sucked.

Good luck in making them pay for the repair.

If they don't pay, then my neighbor will, it's on her propperty. :)

Yea, if your neighbor had the work contracted out she IS indeed responsible for the repairs. However, she should be reimbursed by the stupid landscapers. Surely she hasn't paid them yet, and if not, she can deduct the costs for the cable repair from their bill if they bow up on her. BB

Excellent point...if they don't pay, she can deduct it off the bill.

She's having some major work done, not just plants and sod, but a brick patio and fireplace put in the back which included grading the yard since it slopes down dramatically. She is paying them a pretty penny for this so they better use common sense and take care of the cable. Word of mouth reputation is important in their business.

Word of mouth is THE most important way businesses like theirs gain new clients. If they're smart, they'll pay the few bucks for the cable repair and be done with it. BB

I think the cable guy is worse. Get this...I see some yellow paint going from the cable box to my neighbors house so I figure it's fixed. I try my modem and nothing. I call the neighbor and hers is fixed. I call the cable people and after explaining the situation she puts me on hold for a few minutes then comes back to say I'm scheduled for repair and they'll be here by 8. I told her I was scheduled between noon and 2, what happened? She said she didn't know but I'm scheduled in and they'll be here by 8. I know what happened...damn morons fixed the neighbor's cable but didn't do mine. No way did they schedule two different calls for the same box. IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna tape a note on the cable box telling them they better knock on my door and make sure it's fixed before they leave this time.

Hopefully the cable company doesn't try to charge you for the repair to your side.

Well, the broken-English speaking guy knocked on the door and told my daughter it was fixed and was getting back in his truck to leave when I sent her back out to stop him so I could make SURE it was fixed. Of course it didn't connect. The guy comes in with mud clumps falling off his shoes so he asked for a couple of garbage bags after making a mess on the floor and we head upstairs. Something had to be reset and it took a few minutes before it worked but it's good now. I would have been pissed if I'd have had to sit on the phone again. He left without handing me a bill so who knows what's gonna happen with that, it'll probably show up on the monthly statement. LOL

Nah, my daughter got the broom out while we went upstairs. It figures...I just washed the floors yesterday.
