    USC –17.5 vs VTECH o/u48

USC last year was great for my pocketbook going 10-2 ATS and basically winning all its games by more then 20 points (except BYU, which was 17). Seems the bigger the game the bigger Carroll’s boys step up.

    Some trends for the game…

USC 18-6 ATS the last 2 years.

USC is 7-2 ATS as the away favorite.

USC is 16-5 ATS as the favorite.

USC is 7-0 ATS the first road game of the year.

USC is absolutely fuckin loaded this year. Don’t worry about the loss of some of its seniors from last years squad…becomes Carroll has recruited TREMENDOUSLY over the last couple of years. He has kept all the talent in California himself and you will see some of those players shine this year. RB Reggie Bush, WR Steve Smith, and WR Whitney Lewis were all top 10 HS talent and should shine this year in their true sophomore seasons. In offense that scored more then thirty points in 10 of 12, and 40 points in 8 out of 12 games. Norm Chow is the best offensive coordinator in the country hands down..and this unit will have no problems against the Hokies. Chow is licking his chops after watching Cal put up 52 on the Hokies in last years Insight Bowl.

Chow gets to go after the Hokie secondary, the obvious weakness on the team. They must replace three starters in the secondary. A secondary that gave up big yards threw the air (231 yards per game, and a completion % of 60%)..a secondary that had DeAngelo Hall, and leading tackler, 2nd team Big East S Michael Crawford. Both are gone and this unit will need to gel quick before it faces Chow’s offense. Not gonna happen this early and with such a short amount of practice time.

How will the Hokies fare on offense..hmmm they have Bryan Randall..will he be able to carry the Hokies against one of the best defenses in the country. The running back situation seemed to be fine even with the loss of Kevin jones but his replacement and next stud Hokie RB Cedric Humes broke his leg in spring ball, he has since recovered..but not sure if he’s exactly 100%.

These are quotes from Humes earlier this week from practice….

"I am glad to be back and practicing," Humes said. "My leg feels really good and I am ready to go. I got a chance to run today close to full speed, make some cuts and overall it felt really good. I am glad to be out here running and working. I need to work on some things like my footwork and planting and stopping. Once I think I get it out of my mind and forget about my leg I will be OK. Right now it's just human nature but I feel I can overcome it."

Even if he is 100% the Hokies aren’t going anywhere on the ground against this USC D that has a front seven that just kills the run. So you make Randall beat you threw the air. Randall’s gonna get hit…A LOT. USC’s D had 55 sacks last year…YIKES!

The backups are both true freshman who’ve probably had three weeks worth of practices to get prepared for this defense. Not good. Oh and when Randall puts the ball in the air he will have both his starting Wideouts and TE bringing with them the 6 receptions they got last year. They lost Wiltford to the draft and because of Humes injury they moved there #2 WR from last year to tail back. Not good.

Did I mentioned that USC has the best punter in the country and a kicker that’s a Lou Groza canidate?

    USC by 21 or more.
